    A minor point, but Ampex 350-3 (and/or 351-3)? I'm not aware of any 1/2" 350 transports from Ampex (just some that have subsequently been converted to use 1/2" tape). The 1/2" 3-track machines used in the '50s used 350 (or later 351) electronics, but 300 transports.

    There was apparently a *1/4"* 350-3 machine produced in limited quantities (custom only?), but that's a different beast.
