I never thought Bill Putnam would work his way into this thread!

@MLutthans I know he is not one of your faves. But I thought the pic was really cool. I know it is out of place. Perhaps move it to the main Nat thread?

Matt, aren't we on standard time now?!

    Of course we are! Oops.

Being from Seattle, I am used to it just being sunny and bright every day of the year at all hours, so I lose track.

I wish someone would issue all of the recordings by Nat that are not included in the Hittin the Ramp box, the mosaic box or the two bear family boxes as a cd set (and Lp for those that prefer)

    We’re working on it.

It’s still several hundred recordings you’re talking about here; a lot to get to, and even harder to convince folks of the merits of a package like that.

I have a question about the song 'This Side Up'. I was poring over the discography in this set, and saw this was recorded twice: once for Decca in 1940, and then for Standard Transcriptions in 1941. I only see the Decca version in the track list. Is the Standard recording left off, or am I just missing it?

If I've said it once, I've said it a dozen times: Every reissue project should employ 7 producers, but this set only had six!

That's my way of saying: I think you found something that slipped through the cracks, despite all the eyeballs on the set, all the spreadsheets, all the discographical work, all the conference calls and e-mails, all the proofreading at multiple stages over multiple years, etc. The fact that the track was never even sequenced for inclusion tells me that it was somehow overlooked very early in development, and simply never caught. It's regrettable, and I am amazed that nobody (myself included) caught this.

As difficult as it is to learn that a second version of a track was left off, we thank you, kagentry, for reading the liner notes, and for catching this, and I and the team apologize that this other version of the track is not included. It was human error, plain and simple.

If I didn't read an appreciate liner notes, I'd ditch my collection and stream music. :agree:

Matt, I doubt anyone here would complain about something like this as we only have a shadow of an idea how complex a project such as this one is to put together. I still wish to thank the whole team behind this project for having such faith in the material and so much dedication in seeing the set come to fruition. I doubt any such set is always really complete.

Thanks for the response Matt. While it is a little bit of a bummer that version wasn't included, this is of course still an amazing and very enjoyable set.

I’m playing disc 2 of this special set. Thanks to all that had something to do with putting this together. It’s a pleasure being able to participate on a thread with the creators. It’s apparent a lot of talent and love went into this set. My life is being enriched by this music.
