So, I would believe that the missing Standard Transcrption of "This Side Up" (Standard P-144) is on this set, CD4, Track 25 (listed as 2 minutes 41 seconds); engineered by Doug Pomeroy.

The old Bernie Brightman label. Bernie was an interesting fellow!

I will just add this track along with the Lionel Hampton tracks, to a CDR and tuck that into this box

Very nice set, but I can imagine the outcray and uproar if this was a Beatles, Stones or Sinatra set and a track was missing.
Not sure many here would be so unforgiving...to err is human...even with multiple producers.

At least the track was previously released and many Cole fans already have it.

Since we are now listing complaints and things of that nature. I wish the alternate takes were thoroughly identified.
    For example.
    SWEET LORRAINE- 1939 STANDARD TRANSCRIPTION

TAKE 1: I JUST FOUND JOY... DISC 3- TRACK 8
ALT TAKE: WEJUST FOUND JOY- DISC 7 -TRACK 5

Something along those lines … to identify the exact line or, identifying a musical interlude that is different. My only complaint.

In other words … Exactly what makes it different from the released take.

Norway scandinavia. Customs, toll fees and shipping makes a lot of records expensive.
    Mofi onesteps are like 220usd

How much did the box end up costing with shipping and tax?

I posted this on the Amazon deals thread, but just in case anyone doesn't check that thread out and still wants the vinyl edition, Amazon currently has a Cyber Monday limited time deal on it for just under $160. It appears that the deal will end around 8:30 a.m. Pacific time (or if they sell out whatever quantity they have -- currently 20% sold).

THAT is a deal. I'm not so sure that paying another $100 plus just for vinyl and bigger print is worth it.

I wonder if the producers ever considered using Steve H. to work on this project since it
is so massive? I bet Steve would have done a great job!

I trust that Matt squeezed every note out of these discs which is why the set sounds so amazing.

Matt did a fabulous job. There's nothing in the sound of this release to indicate the results he got to be anything but top shelf.

Dealing with difficult material and making it sound good, without losing sight of the character of the recording at hand, overdoing anything, etc., can be quite delicate, often requiring even more sensitivity in producing/transferring/processing/mastering it. Matt had such material over and over in this historic release, and handled this fine balance very well...

Anyone got both vinyl and cd?
I love these types of vinyl boxsets but im wondering if i should just get the cd instead and save some money. You guys think the vinyl set sounds better?

This is not a Hamburger and Rib Eye situation here. Both sets are prime pieces of meat so simply pick your favourite format. :)
