^^^Good point. How do you ship a fragile item like that and guarantee that it won't shatter?

Perhaps at that price, someone will hand deliver the record to the buyer!

i guess the seller better be careful with how they pack it! i was watching this item too, funny how the "beat up" one also listed is ONLY a little over $1000
ive bought a lot of 78's on ebay over the past 8 years, i have only had one shatter in the mail. it was an Elvis 78, and it was because the seller literally had just stuck the shellac disc in a soft envelope and sent it

oh i definitely did! i still have to seek out another tho. i always worry a bit when i have a century-old disc being tossed around on its way to me, but thus far ive been lucky.
on this note, i know they arent nearly as rare as Johnson discs, but i have gotten a lot of new old stock original Caruso discs for $6! surfaces couldnt be cleaner or quieter if they were pressed yesterday :righton:

The "78's" play back at 45rpm.

I'm curious as well if anyone here bought the set, and how the vinyl sounds.

Was this box set designed by the same team that did the Miles Davis GENIUS box set?

Seems like the price will go down to $100, before anyone will buy it.

There is a high-res vinyl rip circulating that sounds mighty fine. I'm holding off until the set is under $150.

The vinyl set is pressed at the United pressing plant. Notorious for poor quality vinyl (I am guessing Sony made this decision to save money, obviously the savings were not passed on to the user given the price). The records I have heard were not perfectly quiet or centered.
