So out of boredom, my love of Neil Young, and the fact that I wanted a sessionography somewhere that didn't require me going through a ton of virtual filing cabinets, I decided to compile all of the recording session info from the Archives into one Word doc. I grouped this info by album, spacing sessions out if there was a big gap between dates, and grouping stray songs together to form a session for an unreleased work where it made sense. Also, I just did his solo work, as his sessions with Buffalo Springfield are a little too disorganized for me to arrange in any orderly fashion. But now that I've finished, I figured I'd share it with you all, in case anyone is interested. Enjoy!

Thank you, this is great, and thanks for sharing.
There are a few omissions. The first I can think of is this:

    What is missing is

    I am a child

which was a bonus track for the online version of the album. Look here:
Sugar Mountain - Live At Canterbury House 1968 (w/ Bonus Track) | Neil Young

Excellent work! I haven't checked it in detail but I think the dates for the first 3 tracks on 'The Visitor' should be 2016?

Good catch, Redwood. I was getting the typing equivalent of white line fever by this point and typed in the wrong year on accident. Unfortnately I can't edit this now for some reason :/.

Unfortunately I didn't see this bonus track listed in the Archives, so I didn't want to assign it a date just by a guess on my part.

But yeah, for this I just typed what was on the website, so there's definitely going to be some things missing (ie Interstate, Philadelphia etc.)

    Fair enough.
You didn't include all the demo recordings present in the Archives, though, was that deliberate? (The rent is always due, Extra extra, all the stuff that precedes the 1st album ....)

I've always assumed that "Cowgirl in the Sand" was recorded in a different location to other tracks on "Everybody Knows It Is Nowhere" because the sound is so different.
It has a murky quality to it which is totally unlike, say "Down By The River".
I would never have thought it was just the way it was mixed.

It amazes me how Neil's albums, even from the beginning, have never been recorded in a couple of weeks or even a month like many other artists have done. It's like he has never had a pre-conceived idea for an "Album" and he just decides to put an album out by checking back through his recordings and cherry picking the ones that feel right and leaving many of the others gathering dust on the shelf. But it is fascinating to put all the songs in chronological recording order and make up new albums as to my ears they work just as well as the ones he released but then again (at least in the 70's) Neil never wrote a bad song it seems.

Thank you so much! Beyond grateful for all your hard work in putting together this document. I've had a NPL (Neil Priority Lifestyle) my entire life. Neil is the living form of everything that music means to me!

What about the feedback on Arc Weld?:ignore:

Just kidding. I appreciate your hard work and dedication. Lots of attention to detail.
Maybe you should become an author and write a book like that Johnny Rogan guy. I would buy it.:edthumbs:

This is great. Where did you get the details about the original take of Goin' Back, and the overdubs for Field of Opportunity and Peace of Mind? I can't find anything on the Archives site. Also, any idea about the overdubs of Human Highway?

The dates for these sessions were provided by Joel Bernstein, so they're basically correct. Personally I have some doubts about the 5 songs recorded in the first TTN session at S.I.R. on 26th August 1973.In this instance, the Reprise Masters List published on the Broken Arrow (with information 70 % correct) gives more reliable dates with sessions on 20,21,22,23,24,25 August. It's possible, if Reprise was right, that the 26 was the day in which the songs were pulled to the master.

    Thanks.

One possible addition: as I recall the site mentions that the alternate "Words" from Journey Through The Past was recorded 9/28/71 (the day after the version on Harvest which later had Stills/Nash vocals overdubbed).

This is something that needs to be structured and edited/expanded in etc. Hopefully you have saved this all on a spreadsheet or a word file.
