Oh dear... Somebody oughta tell Uncle Neil that the title Colorado has also already been taken. Kabat- Colorado Colorado- s/t
Wouldn't think it will be long until we hear a track on NYA and other streaming services. This has the potential to be very good.
Some of the possible/probable songs on the album (unreleased songs that have been played recently): Truth Kills Why Do I Believe In You? Eternity Green Is Blue Milky Way Olden Days Rainbow Of Colors She Showed Me Love Think Of Me
LIFE is a great record; i mean, you might not THINK you wanted keybs heavy synth-art-rock Crazy Horse, but it turned out just great, I think. Hearing a lot of it live before the lp came out and being excited by the songs already might have helped. I am going to presume since, at least last time i saw them, this new Nils Horse was not seeming into stretching stuff out endlessly that this will be more of a ZUMA Horse style than PP style, though I love both and will be happy for both, but I think drawing out the jams might be more a Poncho thing.
I find the best way to approach each Neil Young release is with anticipated disappointment, and then hope for the best on the day.
To a point, but it's more of a "Neil Young thing"; going back to 30-minute Down By The Rivers in 1970 (or even a "10-minute" Farmer John in 1964).
Life has some good songs on it, but like most of the 80's records, it falls a bit flat in the performances and/or (mainly) the production. For a great "bootleg style" live recording of Prisoners Of Rock 'n' Roll, go to Year Of The Horse: And while you are at it, listen to the glorious Dangerbird that precedes it:
You need to take 13 minutes to listen to this magical performance by a magical band. The interplay here between them all (with special note to Ralph Molina, who was at the top of his game for these gigs) is truly thrilling and shows off why Crazy Horse are so revered.
I really like the recent archive series releases but a new Neil album gets the big... ...from this crazy horse (donkey).
