I thought his point was about delivery of great audio. I just take the theatre bit as a bit of rolling fun to be had as a side show. I must be in the minority.
You missed Rust Never Sleeps (May or June 2018, I think). Also, Solo Trans was scheduled, but never shown.
you're paying a minimal amount. They are already losing money on this. This isn't an on demand streaming service a la Netflix. This is Neil's archives. I view the videos are extras, bonus. Plus, netflix is a lame comparison - they are losing quality content by the week. if you don't care about their original productions, which I don't, it's basically worthless.
Neil is writing practically every day on NYA and is answering to his fans on every question, included his unreleased works. As a long time lover of his music, this is already a great, invaluable gift to his fans.
being able to support high quality streaming video on demand is quite expensive - I've always taken that as just something that isn't affordable for them to do. Neil has always loved movies/film-making and I'm sure if it was possible to have feature length video on demand they would be doing it
I was holding off on the subscription but a long afternoon spent at Joel Bernstein's place last week turned me back onto Neil and I paid my $20 and am delighted I did. Can stream to my PC, via phone to my good hifi set up in the living room. Happy bunny.
Yeah, Joel Bernstein's place is pretty cool. It was fun hanging out this morning, drinking coffee, looking at his photos and catching up on the news. His address? Joel Bernstein Photography
It's from the Inside Greendale DVD that came with the 2nd pressing of the album, if I'm not mistaken.
By the way, I'm loving the posts complaining about various faults of the Archives site written in the mode of an annoyed, entitled hipster reviewing a food truck on Yelp. Keep 'em coming!
Maybe Im remembering wrong, and perhaps this is what we're talking about but wasnt this the film where the camera goes into the space, and there a wall of Fender tweed amps all sitting in individual cubby holes at the beginning. It featured Crazy Horse playing Greendale, but had psychedelic graphics occasionally swirling the picture. I seem to remember seeing it on cable tv I guess, kind of late in the Greendale cycle, after the black edition of the cd came out with the solo dvd performance. It was amazing to get a glimpse of that Neil space, but it seemed like Neil was really squeezing the last drop of juice out of the project, and then I think the 8mm movie film came to light and reality!
Still waiting on the Android app. It's a bit frustrating having paid the subscription two months ago and meanwhile all the iPhone users have had mobile access.
I saw it totally differently. you get to see the actual recording of the album, and I think that's awesome.
