Speculation hmmmm this stuff needs to be released and quick. I'm bit over speculating. We do know though that Neil is a perfectionist and won't be quick about anything
Peace Trail Album Of The Week. Good choice because it's something less obvious. It has some good moments like the amazing title track and glass accident. My favourite album since PP. Would appreciate more in the article for these albums of the week though. Bit more of the story behind these songs.
New Mojo magazine has Neil listed in the reviews section. Could be a live review, I suppose. MOJO 307 – June 2019: Bob Dylan
Do they usually do reviews very concurrent to release dates or do they sometimes lag a bit? The pessimist in me thinks it could be a Songs For Judy review
No, they would have reviewed that last year for certain (can't actually remember reading it). It's either a new album of some kind (including reissues), a live review or a book.
Surely it wouldn't be a Songs For Judy review all these months after release. One can only hope it's a newie being reviewed.
Second preview sounds like CITS but must be a newie but can hear engineers(?) speaking about Billy's bass sound.
I hope Neil takes a little time to make this album special, rather than rushing through it before the songs are fully written.
I know he stopped the tour half way through but where there any officially recorded shows of the stills young band tour?
Sure to be shows recorded waiting and gathering dust in the archives somewhere. They'd be handy shows to hear in all their glory but I think Neil just needs to release Tuscaloosa and Homegrown then regroup after AVOL2 is released whenever that is.
We can always hope. Judging by the two mediocre new songs he has played live I doubt it unfortunately.
I'd say that's a fair description of a good third of his catalogue, and over two thirds of everything he's written in the last decade. Sorry, I know that's a cheapshot, I couldn't resist. I've been cringing at Neil Young lyrics for nearly thirty years now, so not exactly a first generation fan, but weathered enough to moan about his shortcomings every now and then without feeling too guilty. Can't comment on that song in particular, these days I'm happy to wait for the albums. And I'm looking forward to this one, inevitable corny lyrics and all.
Not too many Crazy Horse ventures since 1969 have dissapointed so looking forward to it immensely. Just having the name Neil Young and Crazy Horse on an album title sets their work apart from the solo material.
