Are You Passionate is my favorite post-90s Neil album. It's got a couple of tracks that are clunky and don't fit the album vibe (e.g. Let's Roll), but the core R&B stuff is pretty catchy and comes across as authentic songs about personal relationships. Plus he adds some vey nice guitar bite to the R&B rhythms!

That first AYP tune is bad though. Neil doesnt pull it off vocally.

There was a discussion about this on FB. I too wondered whether Neil had finally given the band a name, but it was felt more likely that this new name stems from that fact there were a sequence of tours called Continental. Having said that the first tour was apparently named after the car and not geography.

They were called The Electric Band at the time.

One of the new letters answered is in reponse to someone who asked about the initial subscribers still getting their original $19.99 price. Neil replied with:
"You are right. The initial subscribers will always have the same price. That must not be clear enough in our communications and I will forward this to the team".

And those who buy Pono downloads from the store will receive "free upgrades as they become available, forever".

    Call me skeptical.

As Zig Ziglar pointed out, if a company offers such a generous "lifetime guarantee" that it bankrupts the business, the lifetime guarantee is essentially worthless.

Yeah I was thinking about that. Not sure how long they spend in London but they don't seem to go back there after they leave. There’s a bit of a timeline in Shakey. Doesn't seem like they ever make it as far south as the Mediterranean though I suppose they anticipated they would on the way to the Sahara. Sounds like it's written in London in September a couple days before it was recorded. Thinking about getting back with Carrie and getting away on vacation at the same time.

Which is what I predict will happen to Neil's new project as it cannot sustain itself (as happened to Pono).

Homegrown sounds like a sure thing. I don’t understand why it’s on that voting list if they already plan to release it.

    They don't. It's a get out clause.

"Oh hey, everyone voted for the 'Other' category and asked for this random live show*, here you go folks!"

    *still pretty awesome, I'm sure.

I agree with this. If you want to see Homegrown next year, vote for it. Don't vote for three other releases thinking that Homegrown is "a sure thing" or will "definitely come out next year."

Not that they couldn't do whatever they want anyway.

“Let’s promise Homegrown, raise the price and then bail lmao.” Seems like a good way to lose subscriptions, I don’t see that happening. It’s pretty clear that Homegrown is gonna get the most votes anyways. With that being said, I’m excited for whatever’s coming.. with the price raise I’m sure they’ll deliver.

The article today about AYP on The Archives has got me enthused again about Toast. Will be in my top 3 that I vote for. Loved that Crazy Horse era..They were on fire live and hopefully it extended to the Toast recording.

I doubt Toast is any good. The stuff that didn’t make AYP was not memorable. He played some of them live around that time. Goin Home itself feels forced. It doesn’t have the spook.
