Sorry it wasn’t. I was referring to Sugar Mountain that listed it in 2013 but see that was a Pegi Young show. I’ll fix my post.
Oh man. Alchemy. I am already waiting 8 years or so for this. Imagine that it would actually be released in October. That would mean 3 Crazy Horse archives releases in one year time
I really, really hope that Alchemy actually does come out this year. It's one of the PS releases I'm most looking forward to.
With all this archives activity ya think he could throw us Springfield fans a bone, with a reunion release?
I like Neil Young. Probably (DEFINITELY) not anywhere near as huge a fan as most in this thread, but I just joined NYA. I am using the BluOS app to stream it to my NAD M12. For $20 a year and everything Neil, I love it! I just may end up being a die hard fan by the end of the year.
Another batch of LTTE have been published with a TON of updates: -He says Berlin will be “one of the many films in” Vol. III...which “is closer than you think.” -He confirms that Trans Animated will also be part of Vol. III, as well as Boarding House. -Freedom, Weld, and Ragged Glory will “be available in the format they were recorded in” on August 5th. “Hi-Res from analog (Ragged Glory EXTENDED) or 44.1 16 for the others.” He also says the ORS 5 box will also be released on that date with those albums, and that they will also be available separately sometime after that. -He again confirms (multiple times) that “Barefoot Floors” will be a part of Vol. III. He says, “I think it’s the best version” in one letter response, while in another saying it’s part of “A Snapshot in Time,” disc 3 in Vol. III. He also says that this is the name of a documentary tape of Neil “playing the songs on Stars n Bars for Nicolette Larson, Linda Ronstadt and David Briggs before we went in the studio.” He again reiterated that this version of “Barefoot Floors” is “the best recording” before saying “it may have been done separately in the studio.” -He also says Oceanside/Countryside is a part of Vol. III on multiple letter responses, as well. In one, he says Vol. III is coming “early 2022, if not sooner.” In another, he also says this album will be disc 3 in Volume III. -Neil also says that they have the rehearsal tape of the Gone with the Wind Orchestra concert, “done at Nashville Musician’s Union Hall the previous day with Nicolette and [Neil] and the entire orchestra.” This will be on disc 4 of Volume III, which is titled “Give to the Wind.” -Neil also says that Johnny’s Island is NOT Island in the Sun, but rather a disc that includes “some music from that unreleased record, in addition to other rare unheard songs.” He also says that this will also be a part of Vol. III, “to be released in 2022 or sooner.”
if johnny's island is not island in the sun, then what is island in the sun? hopefully that riddle can be unravelled. volume 3 in "early 2022, if not sooner:. you heard it here first folks!
I think Island in the Sun is the album, but Johnny’s Island is the name of the Vol. III disc that contains songs from that album and other songs from that timeframe. So essentially it doesn’t seem like he’s going the Vol. II route by including the entire unreleased album on Vol. III (at least when it comes to Island in the Sun).
I think this show would be more interesting than the 1970 Fillmore shows excluding the 1970 Video. An expanded 4Way Street isn't going to add much more based on the concert setlists. This 1969 show has a long electric Down By The River with Stills and Young duelling.
I suppose the most persuasive explanation for why the 6/15/74 Barefoot Floors was left off the Vol. 2 box is that there's an even better version coming up on Vol. 3. Fortunately, the great first version was put up on the NYA website, and we'll be able to judge this question for ourselves once Vol. 3 is out.
Sure they would have “some say”, but i seriously doubt that either would have issue w a release. Neil would certainly be the most likely gating factor here (my 2¢).
But the question is exactly when is this "Better Version" from? We know he recorded another, reportedly full band version, in Jan 1975 but from what Neil alludes to is that it's from the 1977 "Comes a Time" sessions which makes sense seeing as they also tried a version of "Daughters" so he was still mining the 1974/75 period for songs. Does this make sense?
No.. no one has asked him as yet but I'm sure he'd just say it's coming in Vol 3 without realising there's actually 3 versions (that we now know of) unless it's the Jan 1975 version he is really talking about and with Neil you just never know. Fingers crossed we eventually get both.
Is it possible that the next Original Release Series is going to be Hawks and Doves Reactor Freedom Ragged Glory Extended Weld completely skipping the Geffen years?
