Since Bluray appeared I decided not to buy any DVD anymore. So... I will only buy future NY video products if they are at least on Bluray To be really honest: on my 4K giant screen, now that I'm used to watch Ultra HD 4K blurays, even regular 1080p Blurays appear blurry and not "high-resolutioned" enough I don't need to tell you how BAD a simple DVD looks on my system. It looks like those very low-def tiny pixilated videos from the internet in the 90s YMMV, of course.
After discussing the Bristol TTN show at length, the letter writer adds, "It still wasn't my favorite show though; that was Hammersmith Odeon 1976."
Yes. Shakey confirms this in yesterday's uploaded set of "Letters to the Editor." Due to "covid and schedule problems." - siyt
No Box set of TFA recordings planned for the 1973 Anniversary. Neil writes that he doesn't love that album.
I saw The Rainbow Concert TTN Show in November 1973 and all 4 Shows at Hammersmith 1976 and I agree. Along with a Bob Seger Concert at the same Venue a year later that run is Still the benchmark for me.
What are your recollections about those Neil Young shows? The Rainbow one is definitely the stuff of legend and as someone who doesn’t buy bootlegs the section in Shakey about it sounds pretty out there.Looking forward to the Official Bootleg release whenever that will be.
the sound on that one sounds great. i reckon neil's team have cleaned it up nice and made it very presentable. i know it won't be as perfect as carnegie hall, but as long as it's listenable.
The Rainbow. Time Fades Away came out a few weeks before so I was aware that Neil had moved into the "Ditch" but I wasn't expecting what happened. Drunk isn't the word. He talked a lot.....Mainly to his Palm Tree. Most of his comments to us were aimed at the Palm Tree. I'm sure he presented us with an award for being "Best Audience" of the Tour and produced a Trophy. I prefer the quality of the Manchester Show so I haven't played the Rainbow much on You Tube. Of course I "Get it now" but at the time it was hard work People were walking out, cat calling and generally upset. I've said before on here that my Girlfriend at the time refused to speak to me on the journey home. Hammersmith...The stars all aligned. He had new songs that he wanted to play and we wanted to hear. He was relaxed and funny and he and the Horse were just brilliant. This was before the Firestorm effects that i sometimes thinks detracts from his Performances. As a side note...The line "I wish i was as happy as John Denver" before Down by the river on the last night was in reference to the fact that Denver was also in "Residence" at the London Palladium and a reviewer had done a compare and contrast review..
Just sent in a letter to the editor confirming I want a Blu-Ray version of NYA Vol. III. I also made some suggestions on how to hook up a blu-ray player to an older amp (by using a home cinema system with an RCA-out and a blu-ray player that has tw0 HDMI ports, one for audio/video and one audio).
Has there been any talk of releasing the timeline concerts? I absolute live for live stuff but have little time where im able to do it on the archives. I would gladly pay to download them for my personal collection. But I can also respect them wanting to prevent bootlegging
There are ways to create an offline copy for the technically savvy, for personal use only, of course. Anyway, the 1999 tour more than deserves standalone release.
Happy 40th anniversary to Re-Ac-Tor! In my opinion, a pretty underrated record, which besides "T-Bone", is at least pretty solid throughout.
