Oh yeah, like I said I will instantly purchase this one anyway and am genuinely excited to hear it. But, not to be a downer, we don't have a lot of time with the Horse still (relatively) intact and what drew me to Neil in the first place was the times he'd let the Horse out of the barn to tear loose on the guitars, so I'm always hopeful for more of that.
Honestly, we could be in for something akin to After the Gold Rush, where its a mix of instruments but with the Horse all over it.
American Stars 'n Bars, which is Crazy Horse and the Bullets (Linda Rondstadt, Nicolette Larson, and Carole Mayedo), is a very listenable and likable album. Only 3 songs really feature the electric Crazy Horse on crunch level. Rubin may have inspired them to make an above-average album. He's been pretty successful at helping artists do exactly that, so I think we're about to hear something amazing.
Exactly what I was thinking. And it’s a great album. I’m just concerned about all these titles with “earth” and “planet.” Environmental issues have rarely led to good lyrics in Neil’s case. He gets too heavy handed.
I have to give Neil credit that he’s still throwing curveballs at almost 77 years of age. He can never be accused of standing still whether he succeeds or not.
To give further perspective, I loved Barn but, like many, wanted the whole album to crush me. Some of it did, very much. Man, that song "They Might Be Lost"... I think in the future, when times have changed, these later Crazy Horse albums will be highly regarded in the grand scheme of things... Every Crazy Horse record is a different flavor of their talents and no two really sound alike. For me, ATGR sounds like 1970...Zuma sounds like 1975...Re*ac*tor sounds like 1980... Weld was a great live album that practically blew open the doors straight into the grunge era.
Surprised there is no big fanfare around here today. Time Fades Away is officially released on standalone CD! Taking care of incessant complaints one step at a time!
Yep! Got mine just now. It comes with a mini version of the original insert. Nice. It's a shame I bought the TFA/WTBR "version" about 6 months ago, but I like the WTBR soundtrack as there's some good tracks by other artists on it. It's good to have a genuine TFA though.
Only Journey Through The Past that has never been officially released on cd now. I don't imagine it ever will be either.
someone on tiktok was given a cassette tape of the october 28, 1973 santa monica flyers show at mcmaster university. sugar mountain doesn't even have a set list for this show. might be the only known recording of it too! Flashbacks Hamilton on TikTok
here's a screenshot of the handwritten track list: tonight's the night mellow my mind world on a string speakin' out albuquerque roll another number tired eyes tonight's the night flying on the ground is wrong i am a child journey through the past tell me why cowgirl in the sand don't be denied this person needs to get a copy to NYA, stat!
and reading through the comments, it looks like someone from warners has been in contact with him already. he said he's willing to sell it to NYA, and he has personally digitised it for safety.
