Maaaaan, this rocked-out ending to Cortez kicks ***. Great interplay between Poncho and Neil.

  4. I'm digging this already.

Those of you old enough to have grown up with Neil are lucky, lucky, lucky.

    Listening now :righton:

Are those consoles the infamous "Green Board" from Heider's Briggs loved so much (the one certainly looks like it might be) or the duplicate from Quadraphonic Studios Neil had built in the seventies, do you reckon? Either way, they look so old you could probably cut 'em in half and count the rings...

Neil and the Horse sound pretty good for a buncha old guys:D IIRC Billy and Ralph must be pushing seventy by now...

Fuggin' A, that's exactly what that is! (7:10-8:35 in the film)

A Putnam 610 all tube console.
    Extremely rare.

You talk about a piece of music recording history, that console (or the few much like it) has created some of the greatest music in our times.

Here's a brief history of it, and the thing actually in action with video at the bottom of the story.

Great stuff. I suppose this will be on a future Archives box in, say, 2050?

Shakey Productions: Pretty neat tour, I wonder just how big a room that is? it's hard to tell with all the close-ups. I'm all in for a vinyl version of the new release. :D

Very cool video and I really like the jam and version of "Cortez". It sounds like Neil and the Horse are definitely back. I just hope he actually releases a new CD from all of the sessions - sooner rather than later.

Holy holy holy moly. That was one of the greatest thirty-seven minutes of my life. I feel incredibly stoned and I haven’t smoked a thing.

It was like a cross between a dream sequence from Twin Peaks and the last half hour of 2001. Very trance-y and hypnotic. And so many cool/funny details — the rubber chicken, the cowboy boot lamp base, the alligator head. That Studer tape machine! All that battered, scarred, beat-up gear, a jungle of snaking cables, masking tape, the lyrics to My Darling Clementine, “summer almost gone / winter coming in,” and Old Black with the peace sign guitar strap. Pure bliss.

Here is an idea for Neil - include a second bonus disc with the new CD that contains the 37 minute jam from the video.

Looks like from the lyric sheets in the video that NY & CH have been playing lots of old folk songs--"Clementine," "Oh Susannah," "Gotta Travel On," "This Land Is Your Land," "She's Been Comin' Round the Mountain," etc. I wonder if they're just using them as studio warmups or if the rumored second album they're recording now is the long awaited "Neil Young & Crazy Horse--For Kids!"

Hopefully, just warm-ups. I'm hoping for new Neil Young material - not re-hashed old songs.

I assume he'll include a Blu Ray with extras as a bonus disc.

You're not alone! One of my friends cannot view it in IE or Firefox, and he has Flash up to date, and has tried disabling AdBlock and Ghostery. Meanwhile, I can view the video in both IE and FF. Weird!
