Every Neil thread turns into the same tired arguments. It's all one thread!

Neil needs to get back with the Stray Gators one more time and then hang em up for good and only release archival Material like rhe Trunk show and Toast.

OK, thanks. I get what you mean now. Either definition is enough to make me curious to hear it now.

The songs are catchy, I think, in the end, that's what makes it work

I tend to agree with Boswell on Peace Trail. See my review here:

Neil Young News: Comment of the Moment: Thoughts on "Peace Trail", Neil Young's Latest Album

I think POTR are an able band for Neil, if not particularly thrilling. But they are much closer in style to the Stray Gators or Friends And Relatives than they are to Crazy Horse. So it's down to personal preference which is "best".

The point about versatility is also valid. Fans who have been waiting 50 years to tick "If I Could Have Her Tonight" off of their list will surely be thrilled. But if you are seeking that intense and alchemic Crazy Horse sound, with "cliff edge" soaring guitar solos and chest-pumping rhythm, then the Horse (as of their last tour) remains the best place to get it. There's room for both.

That's why the Earth version of Human Highway sounds magical but Love And Only Love from the same record sounds quite mechanical and bloated compared to the "get down to business" Horse versions.

Neil Young is capable of many musical styles. I personally tend to prefer his bands who intensely specialise in one niche; Crazy Horse, the Bluenotes, Pearl Jam. There's a hard-boiled intensity to these groups that bands like POTR or Friends And Relatives can not match. But I do appreciate the appeal of a band who can competently play it all.

I'm looking forward to The Visitor arriving.

I thought the sound on Peace Trail was tremendous, not like anything he's done before, real mellow but not in country rock way he normally does mellow. Didn't like a single song on the album though. It's funny I was just listening to some 80's Neil, I know there's rules on politics talk but some of that 80's stuff is rather interesting "I went looking for Gadaffi"...

Well, even if he doesn’t do anything new , I sure Wish he’d re-release some of the rare stuff we can’t find anymore ! I only saw him and Crazy Horse Live once. Like to get every concert he did with them , on DVD , as well as soundtrack albums .
Back in the day , with them in front of a cheering crowd , there was none better!

I think the music and melody are a step up from what he's been doing recently, although the lyrics are just about the same.

No matter how good this album turns out to be it’s a bummer they included COD. That awful track is bound to let the album down.

Can't say I'm a fan of this track but I did enjoy a lot of Monsanto Years so I'm optimistic for the rest.

I noticed his web store has the vinyl release listed as January 5th.

Man, this track is great. I really dig it. I can't say I enjoyed Children of Destiny much, but I'm into this one for sure. It sounds like there are backwards handclaps and maybe even vocals on the "No war / no hate" section.
