I think a lot of album titles are bland. If things go well, the music will make the idea of bland melt away.
Has anyone noted this line from Poe? Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter, In there stepped a stately Raven of the saintly days of yore
Matt Chamberlain tweeted "9 weeks and 39 shows .. done! Thanks Mr. Bob Dylan-- what an adventure.. Now for a day off and a week of recording in beautiful Brooklyn " today and then quickly deleted it. It's back up without the part about recording. This is at least the second, maybe the third time he's deleted stuff about Bob. Sounds like a new album in 2020.
According to Boston Dylanologist Harold Lepidus, the original poster of the "Days of Yore" rumor has since posted to retract it.
The original rumour, posted as a comment on my blog, was of someone who calls himself "welingelicht kringen". The post, on the same blog, saying there isn't going to be a new Dylan-album in early 2020, is mine. So: two different posters.
The source said: I can now report that I know from a very reliable source that at the beginning of 2020 no album full of new Dylan compositions will be released under the title Days Of Yore . So it could just be under another name.
With the various rumors about an album all year, all the new arrangements, new blood in the band, a clearly reinvigorated Bob, and Matt's deleted tweet about recording all this week after just finishing a tour with Dylan, I choose to believe something might be afoot still.
Dylan usually does not record new albums after having just finished a tour. Chamberlain is highly in demand as a session drummer. He is probably going to record with somebody else.
Can anyone think of an album title that made the music better? Think about your favorite albums - probably most of them have titles that are no better or worse than Days of Yore. The music makes the title.
We are good with Dylan sings Frank. Was nice the first time, and then again. Let’s get back to Bob sings Bob, shall we?
So the comments were retracted but not by the original poster... okay a bit confusing. I'm going to with there is something up and we might get a new Dylan record next year. Life is good that way.
I'd hope that he hires a producer-engineer who would push him to get the best vocals/sound from him, sort of like Daniel Lanois did 30 years ago on Oh Mercy! or 22 years ago on Time Out Of Mind.
This is Bob Dylan we`re reading and talking about. We simply just don`t know what the great man has in mind, a new Dylan album full of Dylan songs would be great. Meanwhile enjoy what he`s given us for not far short of 60 years.
I was finished with it after one album. But as long as sees ticket sales holding up why write anything new?
