With no musical extras, I'll take a pass on this. Already own all three records. I'm very eager for the Back to the Egg/London Town box set. Seems like that has been in the works for the longest time....
Listen to „Find My Way“ from his last album! This song is catchy and experimental at the same time. I’d also recommend you to listen to „Seize The Day“ from the same record! Its guitar line is comparable to a 1966 Beatles song
I considered buying this for a hot second, as I don't own I or II on vinyl. But then, I could just buy I and II on vinyl for half the cost. Then I bought it anyhow.
It is a favorite of mine. Although, if I had to pick just one cool out-there tune it would probably be Morse Moose And The Grey Goose...
I’m also thinking about buying original German pressings of McCartney and McCartney II instead of the box set
People picking Temporary Secretary or Moorse Moose are just people who are too cool to admit they love Bip Bop.
I think if this had bonus tracks, or one bonus track per album would be a legitimate reason to be annoyed.
Re-issue! Re-package! Re-package! Re-evaluate the songs Double-pack with a photograph Extra track (and a tacky badge)
Meanwhile, the Women & Wives RSD release is being pressed in such limited quantities, they’ll end up on eBay at a huge mark up and out of the price range of fans.
Well a fool and his money are easily parted (joke!) Of course if people don't own them fine, but I am guessing the majority of those who buy them own all 3 albums, so they are paying for a box and gimmicky coloured vinyl that probably doesn't sound that great. They can go ahead if they want but it encourages more lazy releases like this one.
He's made ambient records, orchestral records, experimental records, but he's a "nostalgia" act? And power pop bands dishing up Big Star / Raspberries pastiche...aren't? I don't see it (or, rather, hear it). I'd have thought paying hundreds for a ticket would make people more likely to complain if they were dissatisfied; a glimpse at threads here seems to confirm that. I imagine the target market for this box is a) people who don't have these albums already and b) people who can't resist the latest colored vinyl / box / repackaging. If it makes them happy, I don't see the problem. If they feel frustrated and exploited and buy it anyway, that's between them and their therapist.
I don’t have II or III on vinyl so I may grab this if the price is in my budget. It would be a nice gift..
Virtually every McCartney fan will have these, probably multiple times, I know I have, so who are they aimed at ? Why the completists of course, so lets hit them with £150's worth of stuff they already have. He certainly doesn't need the money so why do it ? Oh and this weekend there's a Record Store Day 3000 copies only single which should cause the fans to jump through a few more hoops. It stinks.
Typically, reissues without anything added to them are aimed at people who, you know, don't have the original record(s). So the answer to your question is: those people. And collectors too, if they want 'em.
Aside from maybe Cook Of The House could they pick a more leftfield number? Strikes me they're just going out of their way to pick tracks that others won't because it's somehow cool to do so. I don't dislike Temporary Secretary but to say it's Macca's best or anywhere near it is laughable.
