My wife (the Komputer Kueen) just set me up with a new "wireless" ergonomic keyboard/mouse with side to side scrolling and a bunch of new stuff. Got a giant Samsung LCD monitor with the most amazing resolution and I'm just a happy camper. With this wireless keyboard I can actually sit on the couch with it and "do stuff". Totally cool (for me, for you old-timers this is yesterday's news), I feel like I'm back in the game or something...

Kool! I have been toying with getting one for my wife and her PC. I personally don't need it for mine.

The two things I need for my PC is a DVD-burner (now who's ahead? :D ) and that M-Audio Audiophile2496 card. I spotted one on the 'net for $99. BTW, what did she install in your komputer?

You're going to love that LCD monitor. I bought mine nearly a year ago and I am still crazy about it. I haven't gone wireless yet. I have heard others complain about reaction time not about being right, which can be frustrating. Although, that may more of an issue for gamers. Enjoy the new upgrades!

BTW, this may be the one time where the "Remasters" may be better than the orignials! :D

Great. A wireless mouse will spoil you silly, as will the keyboard. I HATE having a wire get tangled or in the way!

    Now, about that No Noise...................................:D

I have noticed that the second generation dual layer DVD-burners are out, but the price is still expensive. I would think by the end of the year the price on both the burners and the media will be more reasonable.

Sony has a dual-layer burner out for about the same price as a good Plextor DVD+/-. But, I haven't seen any of the blanks yet.

Those are going to be great for DVD authoring for audio!

Rocket ride - it's wunnerful! I assume you got RecordNow burning software as a part of the software bundle? It makes slapping a comp together fast and simple (No-Noise too iffen that's yer pleasure)...

Congratulations on the new system Steve. Big (17 in. or more) monitors are great, and a must if you're at the computer for more than a little bit at a time. It rewards your eyes. I was considering a LCD 17 or 19 inch, but want to wait until price comes down a little more.

Guys, how is wireless keyboarding? Are batteries required? That's the only thing that would turn me off - replacing batteries every month. I do it with my (non-rechargeable) mouse.

Well, it came with a popcorn stand if it's any help...

Steve, something I've been meaning to ask you for some time- do you have your PC hooked up to some 'good' amp and speakers, or do you just use cheap-o plastic speakers and leave the 'good audio' for your home stereo?

I'm asking mostly because of those times people post MP3s of A/B stuff and such for other members to discuss.. I'm curious as to what you check those out on.

They use batteries - get a one hour charger and a half dozen nimh batteries and you're all set...

I'm LMAO as Best Buy has been playing that commercial with the Puppet dude on Strings and then his new wireless laptop lets him run freely. Then on comes the music of the Cowsills with lyrics of "I'm Free, I'm Free to the tune of "I love the Flower Girl" chorus of the song.

LANCE don't tell me that was your idea!!

I don't have a wireless keyboard here yet as I haven't found one I like the feel of, and it has to be one of the ergonomic keyboards. (I'm using an old MS Natural keyboard, black, with half the letters worn off!) Logitech makes one, but to me the keys were a little vague. (I type lines of code for a living--it takes me awhile to adjust to a keyboard.) My resolution is set so high, the letters are small...no way I'd be able to sit more than a few yards away w/o seeing it! :D

I'm on my second wireless mouse. My first one for a few years was a Logitech mouse. This second one is as well, but it is an optical with no ball in it. My old mouse would spend months on the same set of batteries. The optical has an LED in it, so it's going through a set of AAs each month, if not sooner. I would think a wireless keyboard would probably have a battery life of a few months.

I love optical mice. Not the best for some gaming, but for productivity and PS stuff, it's an inexpensive upgrade!

Don't say that too loud - Norberg, Mew, and Astley might think you've gone over to the dark side... :shh: ;)

I haven't tried new wireless components (mouse/keyboard) so I'm out of touch. But I did not like them when I tried them a couple of years back. I'm sure they have improved, but I don't need them. They would not enhance my experience - the wires do not get in the way in my current set up, and I don't want to bother with batteries. I can't see the attraction.

Now the monitor is a different story. I'd love to go there.

To answer the keyboard question...I have to replace the batteries once to twice a year at the most. The mouse on the other hand is 4 to 6 weeks. Keep in mind that it's also on 24/7.

Dave, do you notice any "imprecision" in the movement of the cursor on the screen in coordination with your hand movements on the mouse? Do you feel you have accurate pixel-by-pixel control. Optical mice are far better than the ball-type - that's for sure. I just wanted to get your impressions of the latest wireless mice.
