My keyboard batteries last about a month - the recharger and spare nimh AA batteries keep things running smoothly...

Wireless is great until you have to tranfer your latest Hi Res vinyl drop from one computer to the other. Gimme a 100 Mbps wire anyday!

And wireless grapes are probably sour too. :-(

Currrently dreaming of a 21-incher CRT for my work computer which would liberate a 17-incher CRT for the home machine.

Well, I'm not certain how new the technology is as far as what I'm using, but FWIW they do still sell my version. I really enjoy the optical mouse. The mouse does have it's issues when playing very high-tech video games, but for sufing, click, paste etc. it's fantastic. I'm unsure of what you mean by "accurate pixel control".

Are you talking about this one Grant? New Sony DL DVD Burner

This DL burner model just came out a few days ago, so it is costings more than the models that came out a few months ago. However, it burns a lot faster too. They also have some media on that page. The price of the media is holding me back from buying one for now.

Call me weird, but I hate any keyboard that has one of those little windows buttons between the ctrl & alt keys. Mine is a circa 1992 PS2 keyboard thats built like a tank.

You just said "I really enjoy the optical mouse". That's not my question. I also enjoy the optical mouse.

I was more interested in how precise the feeling is for you (using a wireless mouse) when you move the cursor on the screen. For example, reply to this post and then move the cursor over the "Insert Image" icon. A border surrounds the icon and the cursor changes from a pointer to a hand.

Now back away and do it carefully. When the pointer gets close, the border appears around the icon but the cursor remains a pointer; and then the pointer changes to a hand. Can you easily control the two transitions - it's almost a pixel difference, but it's probably two.

About a year or so ago I bought Logitech’s best optical wireless mouse. I remember the mouse being very accurate, what I didn’t like and ultimately kept me from using it, was the lag time when waking the mouse up from when it was ‘sleeping’ (conserving energy). It was annoying. I’ve tried a newer MS mouse someone I know got and it did the same thing. I guess you get use to it.

BTW: I bet using Lithium batteries makes a difference. I use them on my remotes and they last forever! Even when the kids wedge it in the couch and the buttons are depressed for days at a time.

I don't know the model number, but the one I saw at Best Buy has been out for a couple of months now.

I too feel like I've joined the 21st century - I'm going wireless!

I just started using it last week - I'm in AZ for two weeks running a small Inn while the owner is on vacation. I've been able to do my day job from here - I just go to a local bakery that has wireless and I can connect to my server back in Cleveland. It's almost quicker from here than it is from my office. And the bakery wireless service is free, although I feel the need to buy a muffin or bagel every few hours.

With mine Geoff it stays as a pointer and a labeled tag drops down telling me what the symbol represents. It's nearly immediate for me. No changing to a hand on mine. On links mine changes to a hand, but it appears to do it with out any effort in transition. Keep in mind that I do have a crappy monitor.

I'm not Dave, but I've found a wireless mouse to be every bit as accurate as a wired mouse...and I've had both. I use it for graphics work and a few other exacting tasks, and I've actually noticed no difference between wired and wireless...other than a mouse cord no longer getting tangled on everything.

Mine wakes up nearly instantly--I rarely notice a lag, but it's usually only after sitting for a short while.

The keyboard and mouse both go into a sleep mode when they're not being operated (usually a matter of minutes).

The 23" are real nice ! The 30" uses the same light source as the 23" so it's not as bright :(

I've been trying to get upper management to buy me one of these for work! :edthumbs:

What browser are you using Dave?

The icon in question IS a link - I checked the source code. It's a hyperlink with an image. Your cursor may change to a hand over that image just like it changes to a hand over what looks like a conventional link (HREF). But there are browser differences for me. In Opera, it does not change; but with IE it does.

Let's try again, if you don't mind.

Once again, hit "Reply" and move the cursor towards the "Insert Image" icon. When the pointer is about 8 pixels from the icon, a border should appear around the icon. The pointer will appear to be touching the outside edge of the border. At this point, the little tag with "Insert Image" has not yet displayed.

Do you see it like this?

Now push the cursor past the edge of the border towards the icon, and the little tag appears. When this happens on my browser, the cursor changes to a little fist with a pointing index finger.

I was asking if you could control the mouse cursor finely enough to see both transitions - 1. from no border to having a border, and 2. to also seeing the tag.

Sorry, Rudy. I missed your post. That's exactly the sort of info I need. Especially since you say you do graphics work.

Still, my mouse is a newish optical one and I don't need to replace it. But next time it comes up for replacement I'll consider the wireless mouse.
