UMB needs a better signal. It's very undependable.

The snippet of Light My Fire that Summer broadcast was only about 15 sec and I remember it was a crude sounding audience tape. Sounds like something recorded on a cheapo open reel tape recorder. I'm sure Summer was allowed to bring in a small recorder on location for recording interviews since he was a dj.

I remember listening to BCN in '68.....The American Revolution. Good stuff back then!

Yes, I have several segments with full songs, primarily the 'Five O' Clock Whistle' segments from the WHTT broadcasts I recorded.
Most of these are intact from start to finish (15 / 20 minute block ) with all jingles, antics, the three playlist songs, and DJ personalities live in the studio.
    :)

The tapes I have those on also feature a lot of other songs recorded off of the same station with random bits here and there.
These cassettes were how I captured favorite songs off of the radio for playing in my room many times over in weeks ( and decades ) that followed.

Naturally, these being 'mix tapes' made by a sixteen year old taping songs off of the radio there is quite a bit quite a bit of jumping around.
Often the very beginning of a song is cut off at the start as I rushed to grab a tape or leaped up to push the record buttons on my tape deck.
Some songs are cut off at the end...and others suffer from poor reception drop outs.
But the stuff that was captured is fun and interesting to listen to today.

Station call outs ( including a cool one mimicking 'We Built This City' by Starship! ), call letter musical jingles, DJ personalities from the time, and the above mentioned Friday frivolity.
And of course, all the 'hits' being aired at the time...in this case, mid- 80s gems

So with the exception of the 'Whistle' segments, much of the tapes jump around and don't contain long periods of continuous broadcasting audio.

I believe those both still exist, and you can get them over a lot of the state. Down in lower fairfield county WRKI didn't come in so well, but you could pick up PLR. I get PLR easily NE of Hartford.

The station I listened to most in the 80s and 90s was Kool 96.7, WKHL, which was an oldies station out of Stamford. My cousin's house was the neighborhood hangout, especially as we got older, and he didn't like classic rock, but the oldies was OK. It's amazing now to hear 80s and even 90s stuff on that format, when back then it was all 50s and early 60s.

    Well, here's some news.

It turns out Delilah won’t be part of the WPLM (Easy 99.1) airstaff much longer. Instead, they will have 70s at 7, 80s at 8, and 90s at 9!

I'm going through this one frame by frame. I think we jump a decade or so at 1:45.

    Speaking of classic 'BCN,

I started listening to Charles Laquidara Radio. He broadcasts radio currently from Hawaii.

Small correction: the Crosstown Bus was at 331 Washington Street in Brighton Center, not Brookline.

Great clip. Small quibble: Her name is Maxanne Sartori. She gets a thank you on the back of Get Your Wings BTW.

I remember looking her up when the Parsons stuff came out and found an interview like the one she did with Gram live in studio with Springsteen.

Just got an alert on my phone from the Radio.com app that Steve Perry is on Mix 104.1 talking about his new album ‘Traces’ along with Journey.
