Just posted on the the band's Facebook page:

Our new record is an inch away, just an inch away from being done. And I do mean an inch away from being completely done.
Recorded. Mixed. And soon to be mastered .

Apologies if this is being discussed elsewhere.

This is the first I've heard of it - good news!

Hopefully another tour will ensue! I liked the 2015 "anniversary" shows okay, but I'd prefer to see them tour behind something new - I'm just not a fan of "commemorative" tours...

    Great news!

A friend of mine was recently driving around with her 10 yo old son and the debut cd was on in the car. The boy asked "what is this!?" to which the mom replied "Garbage".

You can guess what the cheeky son's punch line joke was! :D

Excellent news. I thought their 2012 comeback album was very strong.

I remember about 20 years ago, I had never heard of Garbage, and I was reading an interview with Ian Astbury of The Cult. The interviewer asked him what he had been listening to lately, and he said something like "Garbage, mostly". I remember thinking I guess Ian isn't happy with the current music scene either. It wasn't until a few years later I found out there was a band with that name and remembered the interview and finally got it.

A new posting on Facebook today:

Me and my band of brothers have just delivered our 6th studio album and it's been quite a ride.
Like all worthwhile, creative endeavors, it has not been without it's trials and tribulations but as always, it was worth the trip. I hope you all agree.
And that you fall in love with it in all of it's sprawling , cinematic, dark gothic glory.
    Goodnight dears.
    Tomorrow is a new dawn.
    Sx

i hope its good...every album after the debut has a few good tracks on each album and bunch of filler.

I totally agree. I thought their 2012 album was one of their best albums. Consistently strong. Hopefully the new one will be as good - or even better!

I think "V 2.0" beats the debut - and "Beautiful" might be better, too!

The album now has a title according to a post on Facebook!

    Um. Ok.
    It's official.
We have a title for our new record.
    We trust you will approve.
If not, well I guess that's too bad but it's what all four of us agreed upon and that is that.
    So here we go.
    Fasten your seatbelt.
It's gonna be a bumpy ride.
The title for our 6th studio album is:

    "Strange Little Birds"

I bought the last one and tried to like it but I sold it within two weeks together with "Beautiful Garbage". I guess the first two albums and the early singles are all the Garbage I need.

I think "BG" is a great album! The next two were more hit or miss, but I think the first three are all excellent albums...

I would go further and say that there are only a couple tunes on the first record I can listen to....Beautiful Garbage is better in every way. In fact, I wrote them off with the debut as someone I didn't.wouldn't like who had a great catchy single (Only Happy)....I ignored v2 when it came out all together. Didn't even listen. Then I happened to hear Beautiful Garbage on something....bored at a Virgin listening station killing time, maybe? I was blown away....so, I picked it up....liked it so much I went back and got v2.0--which I actually like MORE than than BG....so, then I got the debut from a girlfriend who was "over them"--I still don't like it other than the singles.

Bleed Like Me was such a disappointment sonic misfire --it was mastered by a deaf monkey, apparently--in fact, I was hopeful that in their catalog remastering it would be improved because how could it be worse, maybe I could finally enjoy it--but they seem to have skipped it!! ....I get it....contract fulfillment....but, the the 2012 was a nice return to form. The "anniversary tour" I watched in some HD broadcast where 2015 musicians played their 1996 debut....I turned it off half way through.

So, I get why there would be people who only like the first one--because I only DON'T like the debut. It's obviously very different from the rest of their career.
