Put my IPOD in the stand to update it, and I get this message on my computer

The file or directory \ipod_control\device\sysinfo is corrupt and unreadable. Please run chkdsk utility

What does this mean and what do I do now?

I'm still working on your other problem....

But anyway, basically it means that the file is corrupt (has errors). Since you have a windows machine, I don't have experience with this, but I found the following link: http://www.livejournal.com/community/ipod/831199.html

Let me know if this helps.

    I would try www.ipodlounge.com

More experts there and will probably be able to help you better than we can.
