That was clearly the vibe, with establishing Bond getting his 00-number in the pre-credits sequence. Just any further chatter about Bond "timelines" is very silly.
Picture this: Bond 31: Revenge of the Orphan. Wee Jimmy has recently been denied a family by some evil henchmen - possibly wearing rings featuring multi legged sea creatures. He vows to avenge their horrible demise by working hard at school. He is approached by a large man with a beard - no, not the housekeeper - and proceeds to Platform 16 3/4 to begin his....oh hold on, I'm getting my timelines and franchises mixed up. There's definitely a Walther light saber involved somewhere....maybe...
No timelines? The girl (Sylvia Trench) Bond meets at the casino in Dr No is subsequently his girlfriend (or one of) at the start of From Russia With Love. Just one example of many.
I think you could have a whole YouTube series with this idea. Double-O-Olaf. That's why some people considered it a prequel.
Well, yeah, the original Bond films do have some connections. Mainly I'm just really blown away by the idea that some people think the Craig films literally take place before the Connery/Moore/etc films, or before and after (based on the worn out Bond story from Skyfall) like some kind of bookends.
21st Century? Only one good Bond film in twenty years is ridiculous. Sean Connery churned them out in the sixties( decade)...and at least 2 classics as well.
The first 20 films are definitely the same character. Are we to assume that the numerous references to Blofeld, Tracy's death, previous adventures, and recurring characters are there for fan service? It's theories like this that led to that stupid "code name theory" that has persisted for decades, even though it can easily be disproved.
Are the Brosnan Bonds a reboot, then? I don't recall references to any old characters and Goldeneye has some things happen that reset his history.
Brosnan's Bond is still the same. In TWINE there's a picture of Bernard Lee's "M" hanging up in MI6. In DAD there's mention of Bond's watch being "his 20th", as well as gadgets and objects from the previous films that he instantly recognizes. In GoldenEye he makes several references to spending time "shooting in and out" of Russia. The continuity of the Bond films was always loose but it was still there. It's still the same character.
IMHO, Purvis and Wade made a gigantic mess on that one scene with John Cleese. DAD was the 20th film and a 40th year celebration; so they threw a lot of stuff just because it had to be there for fan service, like the DB5 on the Craig films.
What about season 5, last episode of Mad Men.. Jon Hamm and Heather Graham.. with You Only Live Twice musical accompaniment.... very J a m e s B o n d.
Top five James Bond films ? 1. OHMSS score + Diana Rigg, the Australian fellows not bad. 2. From Russia With Love 3. Goldfinger 4. Casino Royale (2006) 5. The Spy Who Loved Me
Ask yourselves, how would David Lean have made Casino Royale? Or Emeric & Pressburger? That's the version I want to see. On the other hand, how would Peter Hunt and Richard Maibaum have made Casino Royale? What would they have done with the story? That's alway what the producers should ask themselves when they undertake a Bond movie. What would Hunt & Maibaum do?
I guess I somewhat agree. I thought Brosnan was a fine choice for Bond......until I saw the films. They're ok of course, but it's not what I would have liked to have seen. Doesn't matter what actor they choose if the films are lame. I'll still watch them, but Live & Let Die was the last one that I can say I really liked and even that wasn't as as good as the Connery films, and the latter ones of those weren't as good as the early ones, and.....I'll shut up now.
I accepted Brosnan as a tongue in cheek Roger Moore style Bond and enjoyed the run up to The World is Not Enough. Yes, even with a sexy nuclear scientist named Christmas Jones. (I thought Christmas came but once a year!) I think TWINE also has one of the best opening sequences and theme songs. If I had watched the 'hard man' Dalton movies before Brosnan I may have been less enthusiastic about Brosnan. Dalton was excellent in two poorly directed movies. But Dalton and Brosnan put in excellent cameos in the Corneto Trilogy. Its a shame there was no Bond in Shaun of the Dead
how about Nicholas Hoult, or is he too young? If cast, I think he would be the first former child actor to play Bond
