Saw it yesterday. It’s excellent, and Alana Haim deserves whatever praise she’s getting. It’s a bit strange. Of all the people to have a bug up your ass about…Alana Haim? Why?
Just finished seeing this at the theater. I thought it was fantastic. Great job by all, IMO. This Haim girl really was something special.
My kids are in it somewhere, in the restaurant scene and the Sean Penn motorcycle scene. Filmed during the height of Covid, BTW. My wife had amazing stories to tell about the filming. Looking forward to seeing the movie.. Even the matchbooks on the counter are vintage period correct.
My sons and I saw it tonight, and we all enjoyed it. And yes Haim was delightful in her role. I thought it was refreshing that they cast a girl who was blatantly not pretty, yet ended up being very attractive by way of her spirit and carried the movie quite well.
There were some amusing parts, and I loved all the family rooms full of bodies on couches watching TV together...but overall a miss. Gary isn't that interesting a character and the big turn at the end felt unearned.
Those are definitely valid points. But the experience of the film, at least for me, outweighed those shortcomings.
God , is this tanking in wide-release , should have gone wide in mid-January , though who knows , with COVID. Many Movie Theaters , may be closed . Licorice Pizza (2021) - Financial Information
He was also the late night horror movie host "Ghoulardi", which also supplied the name of his production company. Vickie and I saw this tonight, and we enjoyed it, but at this point it's near the bottom of our ranking of Paul Thomas Anderson films. It's like the Valley parts of Boogie Nights without the larger story arc - as if he decided to expand Don Cheadle's character's quest to start a stereo store to film length.
I meant that $40 million sounds like way way more than it should’ve cost. It seems more like an indie film where the big-name stars did it for fun and low pay. I would’ve guessed this movie cost $15 million to make.
In Hollywood? I stuck around through the end credits, and didn't see any indication that it was shot in Georgia or any of the other places where they get significant tax advantages. $40 million seems quite low for what I just saw.
I loved this movie. Nothing beats sitting in a theater and having no idea where a film is going to take me.
