The majority of these are from this current decade. I gave up when I got to the "D's" as I could see that this was going to get to be a very large list and that is without looking at the previous decade to be able to include all of this century. Tons of really good new artists to go along with the music I grew up on in the 60's and 70's.

Hundreds. Far too many to list. Anyone who claims "there's no good music anymore" is just saying "I can't be bothered to listen to new music anymore."

It's hard for me to do that sort of list because I'm someone that listens to lots of bands sometimes rather than a few bands a lot, but of my Last.fm Top 100 for 2018 so far, this is the bands that started in 2000 and beyond. I've bolded the ones that started in 2010 or later.

74/100, and that's in a year in which I actively aimed to explore some older music and genres as well. Not 100% of these artists are ones I'd recommend as great and there's some nostalgia in there too, but I have no doubt that this is as good a decade as any for music.

FINALLY! A fellow non-mainstream weirdo! I've never even heard of 99% of the band names on this thread.

Although the Wizard started in the 90's, Zoot. I really tried with ELDER but as with so much doom metal the vocals were just a deal breaker. As with THOU. And KHANATE. And CORRUPTED.

Well I counted them and Gorillaz since their first albums came out in the early 2000s.

Way too many great bands over the last couple decades to try and cover in one post or thread, just this year alone has seen some great discoveries (thinking the amazing new album from Maarja Nuut & Ruum in particular), so just picking one to recommend from a huge list, I'll go with Melanie De Biasio No Deal, one of the best sounding modern records I've heard. Not exactly rock, maybe more jazz, but with some of the same dark atmosphere that framed the later Talk Talk records, and the Mark Hollis solo, but with the ghost of Billie Holiday on lead vocals. Really beautiful record from any angle, highly recommended.
