I was about to buy the 2016 Japanese issue fo DSOTM, until I noticed at Discogs that the LP is pressed by Record Industry. So I am assuming that it will sound the same as the EU issues, Is this correct?
From my understanding, pressing is the same but packaging is the Japanese replica with OBI and everything else. I have passed on these reissues.
I have a PRO-USE SERIES so I don't need to pay extra just for the dressing up of the release to make it look as if printed in Japan. I say if you don't have a 2016 release of this title, sure, go to Amazon Japan to get a good price as of 09/27/2019. Otherwise the price that I paid for the EU copy at only about $20 US, was a good purchase. As in passed on all of the Pink Floyd 2016 issues?
Nope, the ones made for the Japanese market. I enthusiastically bought and enjoy all of the 2016 vinyl releases.
I'm new to this entire subject, and this is the first I've seen this. So if I order the 2016 Wish You Were Here LP from Amazon US, I'll likely get the BG cut? In other words those of us in the US no longer have to specifically hunt down the BG cut?
There are som lyrics missing from The Gunners Dream in my Final Cut gatefold. "The gunner sleeps tonight, what's done is done, we cannot just write off his final scene" are nowhere to be seen. How about you guys?
I bought Delicate Sound of Thunder today. On Sorrow there is clearly some distortion on the guitar. Very annoying to listen to. Anyone else noticed this? If someone has a flawless copy of Delicate, can you tell me where you purchased it?
For some reason they didn't want any of the 3 copies back, so I ended up with 3 otherwise great copies of the album. It's just Sorrow (which happens to be my favourite track from that album and tour) that stinks.
I have an early (original) US vinyl copy of Delicate...…..no distortion on Sorrow. I felt no need to purchase the recent reissue.
I am am not a super fan... maybe only slightly above a casual fan (I own everything from Dark Side up to and including Delicate Sound Of Thunder on vinyl and CD) and I am still trying to figure this out
I tend to find the second or third play is when they sound their best. I almost never clean new vinyl, but do clean almost every second hand record I get. It's incredible how much a clean improves most of those.
I agree, except Atom Heart Mother, which disappointingly is blurry compared to any old UK pressing I've seen. I love the new Animals sleeve.
