No arguments there, I don't like the Americana album cover. But I won't argue with new Ray Davies music...

If they lost the flag from the cover, I would like it more. As it stands, Hamilton looks like more of a theater poster, and Americana looks like a record cover. So there's that.

Pre-ordered. Any new Ray Davies is an automatic purchase.

I love the cover of Ray's new album. It is titled Americana after all and the cover is very appropriate and it features my Flag. Hamilton's cover is mediocre and is generic looking. Very much of its time, IMNSHO.

the latest issue of Uncut mag has Ray on front cover and a long central story / interview about the Kinks and the new album
it comes with a CD of artists covering Something Else in full

I'll be honest, my copy is still sitting there unopened. These kind of cover albums don't really appeal to me, but I will have to give this a go at some point.

Thanks for the replies. I might pass on buying the issue........though Wreckless Eric is tempting.

I thought the covers CD was OK. I preferred the tracks where they had been completely re-imagined, those which are just covering the tracks 'straight' invariably come off second best to the originals. Doing 'David Watts' as a slow ballad gives it something different.

Ray's wallet was in her purse. Given his reputation of being frugal he may been less of a White Knight and more trying to save his wallet. :shh:

I really liked the two proper solo albums of Ray's. I am a big Kinks fan as well and found it hard to appreciate their last two. Working Man's Cafe to me was a return to classic Ray. I liked it more after reading Americana and hearing some of the stories that inspired the songs. The new one is an instant purchase for me especially after hearing the first track.

Never heard anything from him since the Kinks broke up. Any solo records that you would recommend? I have two of Dave's old records on vinyl. I haven't listened to them in years. Both from the sale bin.
I'll have to listen to them again.

I didn't care for Dve's previous solo records, but his latest "I Will Be Me" is very interesting with a lot of different styles and sound effects on it. Very enjoyable.

Thanks it seems like Bug is the to listen to. I put my free Spotify account to use today and thought that Bug was good. Far better than the two I have on LP which are AFL1-3603 and Chosen People from what I can recall. I may give them a spin again soon to see if they are any better than I thought.
To me Bug had some very Kinks sounding tracks that were like 80's Kinks more than 60's. I do think it's worth another listen as I was taken back initially by the production.
