New Ringo Starr EP "Change The World" (Sep 24, 2021)

Love it. Good clean fun. Pleased to hear from him. Well done, Ringo!

 

Last time someone got on this hair dye issue and I responded, I was called down by the OP and a mod, but, yes, I saw a pic of ringo with grey hair many years ago. It’s only natural that with age, he’d go completely gray and, yes, he’s been dyeing it and his beard for years. That’s his right and choice to do so, but folks were so very very busy commenting on Macca’s hair dye for several years that they failed to notice or mention ringo.

Many celebs dye their hair as they are in the limelight. I enjoyed the release and glad he’s still working and healthy. Yes, he puts on a good live show still but sadly I had to cancel my last efforts to see him due to my severe walking troubles as couldn’t walk to the arena. I realize that autotune bothers many but I just see it as a technological recording tool. lol.

 

Was bored last night so I finally made the making of “ Zoom In” and “Change the World” EP’s that I had put off. Nice companion pieces for the collection

 

Unlistenable. Auto-tune all over the shop.

 

His technology has improved over the years since it started becoming very apparent after Y Not.

It's getting better all the time.

But yeah, I'm really confused on WHY they think it's necessary. There's no masking who Ringo is. After 20 solo albums, we all know how he can sing already. Just do a few takes and stitch together a final vocal track like the old days. He was in the room. He's seen it done a few times.

Well the vinyl made it to my doorstep today, but the Oasis Knebworth Vinyl & Blu-Ray didnt on same release day.

 

EP is much better than expected. Title track is the worst song.

 

The EP topped the UK vinyl singles chart last week for what it's worth. Didnt dent the overall singles chart but nice to see Ringo at no. 1 on any chart

One listen: I’d say, if you only get one Ringo Bill Haley cover this year, go with Rock Around The Clock.

However, imo, it’s more appealing than the Hallmark Greeting Card sentiments that have been in his “original” compositions for the past many (post-Hudson) years. It needs some Joe Walsh guitar, like the other tune. A little heavy on the female backing vocals, too. Sounds like synths instead of (preferred!) horns. Some nice piano work, though and a decent lead vocal.

 

Where did you hear it? I can’t find the recording.

Yes, only whole album by that link for a I think available for two weeks only.

Yup, album only.

Doubt it will be available for single purchase. Maybe he’ll incorporate it into a Zoom In/Change the World full album, if he’s still considering that (?).

 

I like "See You Later". Strong vocal, but could have used real horns, yes.

I still have to listen to Change The World...

For me, Ringo is musical comfort food.

I think he has chosen to stop innovating since the Apple days or maybe Y Not, but I don't mind, and I enjoy most of his records.

He feels like a friend making art and I want to support him because I love what he stands for.

Aside from Ringo, does anyone know how many of the tracks are new? Including new versions or remixes?

For instance, Sheryl Crow had the song Home on her second album. Is it a different performance or mix?
