Well, "Tommy" does take up the bulk of the set, but I figured he'd do a longer "encore" (it's 3 songs). The show was short (80 minutes maybe?), and there was only one non-Who song to be had.

Sure enough, as soon as he said they were finishing with a song from his new album, the pack up and chatter rose throughout the lawn section. Apparently he knows his audience's tolerance for anything non-Who.

How many times do we need to keep hearing Tommy live? Unbelievable album, but?

Tommy is the last thing I would want to hear from him

Because (DA) me had no idea it was a themed tour. Just thought it was a solo tour with no heading, I have seen The Who so many times that I do not pay that close attention to his solo tours, hope that makes sense as I would never have posted that comment like that...

I knew the name of the tour, having a ticket and all. :) I still figured on a longer post-"Tommy" set, with a few numbers (more than one!) from the new album.

The man wants to sell tickets. Not playing empty halls for you and your Free Mason cronies. :)

 Entwistle was a Freemason. Townshend learned about it after John's death.

Saw this show last week. I too wish he would have done more from the new album, especially after hearing a lovely performance of Always Heading Home to end the concert. The short 3 song encore could have been all solo stuff since the main performance is an entire Who album. A missed opportunity it seems to me was not reviving his old ballad Without Your Love. Having an orchestra at his disposal, that song could have been a real treat.

I got to see Daltrey in Chicago this past weekend. We were seated too far back to see much, but the sound was terrific and Tommy rocks. The band played a couple Who songs at the end, Daltrey sang a solo song from 1992, gave a nice speech. Good time had by all.

    Photo from this Tuesday- Nashville.

I 've never seen Daltrey play Who Are You electric, he usually plays acoustic on that song.

The "Free Mason cronies" joke was a reference to one of the dialog bits from Pete's Psychoderelict...

Sorry, just seizing the opportunity to make a little Who-related joke. It wasn't aimed at you. No offense. :)

A lot less running in place last night than the old days, and he bonked himself once with the microphone and didn't twirl much after that.

He did do a sort of yoga pose at the end of one song to show off his flexibility.
