I don't know if Landau et al have woken up to smell the coffee yet, but wouldn't be surprised if they try and eke this out - there was a year or two years almost between boxes and new material with Darkness and River. But we all know we are a long way from Live 1975/85 era in terms of sales and marketing.

agree - I see zero negative effect, I saw it the other way : typically, a USA "revival" helping - if only marginally - the sales of WS.

Looking at some of the song titles on Western Stars and it sounds like Bruce had The Rolling Stones on his mind. There's a song called "Chasin' Wild Horses" and another called "Moonlight Motel"--get it?

    Also one called, "Stones."

I'm not sure you can read anything more into it.

Most of the titles are evocative of the Southwest.

The most Bruce-like title is "There Goes My Miracle."

It’s funny to see Jon Brion on this because he’s said he hates Springsteen. I can’t find the quote though.

    They'd better.....or else.

I haven't heard the song ---I imagine it will be on Spotify tomorrow--so I'm reserving judgement until I do.

And until Dave Marsh weighs in....

I agree. None of the titles sound familiar. Also, Aniello is a recent collaborator.

No they don't, but his lyrical work has been suspect for a number of years. No longer the pinnacle of songwriting.

I can't imagine the new album would have an impact on a BITUSA box set. It isn't as if a $15 new studio album being released during the first half of the year is going get in the way of marketing a niche box set for the Christmas shopping period. That said, neither the Darkness nor The River sets were issued on anniversary years (as they were probably intended), so it isn't as if BITUSA has to happen in 2019.

You're right, but reading the tea leaves of past experience with Landau and Bruce, we'd have to assume that the machinery is in gear to push the new album and the new album alone, without "distractions." So Colbert and Fallon and the Today Show, but no BitUSA box this year.

Kitty’s never comin’ back. A country ish album does have potential though, even if some of the titles make me squirm.

I agree. I suspect this year will be devoted to the new album. Get ready for the music press to fawn all over it.

Might even be better suited for a US presidential election year, a la BITUSA. Think of the possibilities!

about to play it again on estreet go get it

good time bruce has the blues aka hello sunshine.
if you loved tom joad and devils dust you will go gaga over this.
im sure the very prominent bass line is a recent aiello addition but
the basic tracks are probably very very old.

Jon will not allow hell or highwater to interfere with the dissemination
of bruces latest vision, so no box.
