That was actually my first introduction to New Order, even though it was a little after the fact in '87. In a lot of ways, it can be viewed as a continuation of the Joy Division sound but without Ian at the helm, though his ghost haunts them still. Did you get the deluxe edition with all of bonus material? I really love a lot of their single/b-side tracks from this period. Ceremony (w/In a Lonely Place) was an old JD track, of course, and there are a few rough versions with Ian on vocals, but I love the New Order version, their inaugural song. Also great: Everything's Gone Green, Procession, Cries & Whispers, and particularly the 12" version Temptation. With these songs you can hear them start to develop their own sound distinct from Joy Division--a fascinating evolution.

I purchased the deluxe edition that includes 10 A/B-Sides songs. :) I think they transitioned quite well for a band that lost their lead singer.
They didn't lose that sound it just evolved into something lighter and more accessible. That's not a bad thing at all.
I always got a dark vibe from the first two JD albums. Even though there's some gloomy moments on Movement it's still very light compared to their work with Ian.
It's a different vibe from a sorta new band. I love where they went with their career and I'm happy they went on after Ian's death.
I will purchase everything I can get by New Order. Hopefully their later work is just as good.

Got a whole bunch of King Crimson early cd releases (the '87 EG cd's.) Listened to In The Court just a few days ago. Listening to it now as well actually. It sounds great. Hopefully I don't spark another King Crimson mastering thread from this :righton:
