Little did he know what a beautiful & stunning musical legacy he would leave us!--LK
Worth checking out Larry John McNally too... Singer, songwriter, guitarist born in Bangor, Maine, U.S. In 1979 Larry signed with American Recording Company (ARC), which is managed by Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire. He started recording his solo debut album in 1980. He was already a well-known songwriter who wrote songs for artists such as Chaka Kahn, Average White Band, Teri Desario etc. He has worked extensively with Jon Lind. John's song covered by Bonnie Raitt on her best selling LP Nobody's Girl The Motown Song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heBQJQmiIcE Just Like Paradise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZwCJ8ya4b0
I really like this, and appreciate that they chose a photo of Nick smiling (even if he's avoiding the gaze of the camera and holding his hands firmly). It's a lovely change from the usual sombre approach to representing him. x
Oh dear, I’m sure all of us are disheartened by this news, as September was fast approaching. Does anyone know why this has been pushed back?
Been following this on FB for some months. (5) Nick Drake - An Authorised Biography | Facebook Richard MJ seems to be pursuing a forensic investigation into Nicks life. Fully authorised by Gabrielle, hes found stuff she didnt know she had. Hes found people never interviewed b4. RMJ takes no prisoners & is set on debunking the mythical parts of the story. Shame its delayed, but isnt everything, but its going to be worth the wait.
A good forum friend, @Tribute , suggested I share my newest thread...please join in! Dylan fans welcome...one and all. Simply Bob...DYLAN. Music and conversation.
Does sound really worth the wait. I did enjoy reading Gabrielle's book very very much because most chapters were written by individuals that had short or lengthy experiences with Nick. Each one wrote in a different style, covered different timelines, and gave me fascinating insights into Nick's life and personality.
definitely cello song! that was the first (and only) one of his songs i heard in the early 90’s before i finally got Way to Blue. a perfect intro!
My first purchase was the Treasury sacd & instantly fell in love with Hazey Jane II - the rest just naturally followed....
I got the Time Of No Reply CD about 2 months ago. It's great, I love having both it and Made To Love Magic. I think for the individual songs I prefer the new one, while as an entire album experience I prefer the original. I used the Made To Love Magic final 5 to make side 1 of his unfinished album. He had a tracklist for it I belive, so here it is. The cover I made myself, I think its' stark simplicity and darkness fits the music: 1. Voices 2. Black-Eyed Dog 3. Rider On The Wheel 4. Hanging On A Star 5. Tow The Line Artist Name: Nick Drake Album Name: Nick Drake Year: 1974 Genre: Pop Album Artist: Nick Drake Cover:
"A pastoral [jazzy] folk[ish] album that sits perfectly alongside Nick Drake’s "Bryter Layter" and "Solid Air" by John Martyn. Originally released in 1995." Definitely has a great John Martyn feel... Some great mellow Saturday afternoon acoustic feel acid jazz by Matt Deighton! Founder of 1990's legendary acid jazz greats Mother Earth. His solo release Villager is killer! Villager...full album play The debut solo album by Mother Earth singer, Paul Weller band member and erstwhile Noel Gallagher replacement in Oasis, Matt Deighton. A pastoral folk album that sits perfectly alongside Nick Drake’s "Bryter Layter" and "Solid Air" by John Martyn. Originally released in 1995. Remastered from the original production master by Nick Robbins at Sound Mastering (Ace Records, The Small Faces), the vinyl sounds incredible. This new edition is released on Acid Jazz’s People Tree subsidiary and is pressed on milky clear transparent vinyl. https://www.roughtrade.com/gb/matt-deighton/villager
Nice. Somewhere between Outlander era Meic Stevens, Alone Together era Dave Mason and Wildwood era Paul Weller
