Vinyl ? Ha! Turned out to be BTB... download doesn’t work, no doubt used LP donated to charity shop. I listen for the past 8 years on speakers. ND? Listening experience usually daybreak.
Thanks for your advice again, I have spent two weeks looking into it all. Who knew that you could genuinely find such a rare thing in the attic. Sure it's not got universal appeal but it is a pretty rare thing I guess, nobody seems to know how many of these LPs were actually made. I've learnt all sorts about vinyl records and Nick Drake over the past two weeks. Had consensus that the Discogs sale must have slipped through with someone not recognising what it was, the popsike history is more accurately. Got it up on Ebay now.
Is A Skin Too Few only available in the reissued "Fruit Tree" box? I thankfully now have both box sets.
The DVD?! I hope this version of Fruit Tree is still available ... I tried on Amazon ... only found 4-CD version(s) ...
Extremely limited release....OOP. But there are some at Amazon for $70 and up. 3CDs and A Skin Too Few DVD...the booklet is well worth it too. It has recording background history and thoughtful analysis of every track from Nick's three LPs; which was used for most of my material quoted here at this thread. Priceless. Get it while you can...if you can. Amazon.com: Buying Choices: Fruit Tree (limited)
Just make sure you are getting the 2007 3cd/1dvd box, + 108 page booklet....as looks can be deceiving...some show the proper box in the pic, when actually it is the Hannibal 4 cd box from 1986 they are offering. this is it from 2007 on the Island imprint: >>not this, below, from 1986 (though I have it also...4cds...it is great, but no DVD!): Often, it says it is the 3cd/1dvd box above, but in the description turns out it is the 1986 four CD box in actuality. Gotta watch these guys! These eBay offers seem to be right: Fruit Tree [3CD/1DVD] [Box] by Nick Drake (CD, Nov-2007, 4 Discs, Island (Label)) for sale online | eBay
Makes things a lot easier if A Skin To Few dvd was available separately. Saying that I’m sure I have a vhs copy (Tv) from 2002. Hassle trying to find. Remember Gabrielle Drake looked good on it. Aside Picked up U.F.O tv series dvds the other day. Just noticed.. ( Youtube has the complete ASTF documentary)
A new book is in the works, with approval from Nick's family. Hope this link works... Richard Morton Jack
In a way... Shelagh Mc Donald recorded an album Stargazer at Sound Techniques in 1971. Engineer John Wood. Strings Robert Kirby Photography Keith Morris Guitar Richard Thompson & Keith Christmas Bass Danny Thompson Her story closely mirrors Nicks. She was a drug casualty & after a handfull of recordings fled to Scotland She did survive but after a handful of gigs has retreated again. Cant recommend her albums highly enough. They are beautiful. Robert Kirby's sublime strings, Thomos guitar & the hand of John Wood are all over them.
She had a bad acid trip during the recording of her third album and disappeared. No mention of Nick Drake dabbling with LSD.. but you never know.
When building up my hifi I always wanted a system that wouldn't sound like hifi. But would sound as close to live music as possible. Always had Nick Drake in the back of my mind when chosing components. So these are my speakers, Quad 2905 electrostatic. Approx 5ft high & 2 ft wide. Amps are all English hand built tube (valve)
