any love for Nick Heyward or Haircut 100 Out there? I love him, got to see him twice in small intimate shows...one of my favorite tracks is Caravan
I liked Haircut 100, but really discovered his solo catalog about 10 years ago. Great discovery! I love “From Sunday to Monday” and “The Apple Bed” as entire albums. Favorite tracks: Ordinary People Kite Stars In Her Eyes Just Like Sorrow
Whistle Down the Wind and then lots of others. He certainly has a gift. Its just too bad he didn't stay with Haircut One Hundred.
The track "Goodbye Yesterday" is pure pop perfection! Always puts me in a great mood when I listen to it. His last album "Woodland Echo" is a great album - I listen to it from start to finish!
I'm in. Huge fan. Whistle Down the Wind. Blue Hat for a Blue Day. Take that Situation. Whenever I'm in London, first thing I put on streaming is Nick.
Discovered one of his non-LP singles tonight: "Laura". What a great song. Was considering getting the LP for North of A Miracle, but I might instead hunt down a CD reissue that has this particular song (and a few B-sides) added.
I think the I Love You Avenue album is terrific. Very underrated, partly due to the production being of the 80s. Great songwriting. You're My World Traffic In Fleet Street If That's The Way You Feel This Is Love I love You Avenue
Friend gave me copies of this and North of a Miracle yesterday. "Traffic in Fleet Street" from I Love You Avenue is what stands out right away. Now that's an interesting song. Completely different from all the other tracks on that album. It seems like he's got three sides to his work: 1) the great catchy pop songs ("Love Plus One", "Laura", "On a Sunday", "Kite"); 2) the kinda lame dance pop songs where he tried too hard to sound like Rick Astley ; 3) his more experimental side, excellent songs - "Whistle Down the Wind", "Club Boy at Sea", "Traffic in Fleet Street".
