If Nick was that close to The Who it's amazing he isn't deaf today.

NYC Beacon Theatre just a few days off now ..... and can't help but wonder if there will perhaps be a special guest attending or even participating ...... a certain someone who has a home in the area ...

Saw this in Chicago, and was really impressed. I don't have much more to add from what's already been said, but as close as they kept to the original songs, I think what really sold the performance was the little tweaks they made to the material. Loved the synth solo that introduced Obscured by Clouds, the way they extended the one "aaaaand" during Bike....it was just FUN, and Mason is about as humble and grateful a "front man" you could find. The fact that Waters and Gilmour have both mostly avoided this material made it kind of perfect to revisit it as its own show/band.

I would love to see them put out a live album/video of this show. I don't know how that would play with his old bandmates, but it would hardly touch on anything they've done in 40+ years. It would be an instant buy for me.

I was at the Milwaukee show in the beginning of the month and I was hoping to see CD/DVD of one of last year’s performances for sale at the merch table.........maybe later on this year at tour’s end!

Someone on another forum posted that he spoke to one of the band members who seemed to confirm this as well.

I heard a decidedly more funky groove to many of the arrangements.

Totally agree, and that’s what so many people are saying! The band is obviously enjoying themselves onstage. It’s great to hear so many great songs that usually get so little attention.

  18. Yes, the band seemed to be having a blast. The arrangement for Atom Heart Mother was exceptional -they really focused on my favorite parts. How they knew to do this remains a mystery.

I saw the show at the Wiltern in LA - loved it and echo the praise given on this thread. I did have one minor niggle - the kick drum was too loud and its tonality was too fat - almost sounded like a hip-hop kick. That's it - niggle over! :D

I only wish they'd have done the big finale and then returned to If. But seeing Mason on the double intro of the main theme, hitting that rolling fill in between, was worth the price of admission. The slide guitar solo was pretty stellar, too.

Saw the Columbus, OH show...fantastic. So great to hear that material performed live in a beautiful old theater (the Palace). If you have the opportunity to see the band, go.

Hearing him do that was the moment when I thought to myself, "Heck yeah, this is Nick Mason of Pink Floyd."

saw the TO show too....really really great!

those songs have so much more impact when they are played live

I wish the drums had more dynamics though: they were LOUD thru pretty much the whole thing. "fearless" and "green is the colour" could have used a lighter mix

and the keyboard parts could have been more prominent

but hey, it was Nick's show!
