Nicolas Cage.....why does a talented actor, who had a promising start end up acting in B movies.

Have you seen any of the movies he has done in the last 5 years?

I have no idea which went straight to video and which actually got a theatrical release. But I'm betting there more for the former than the latter

And sadly i have seen a couple of them yes cage was just horrible just horrible. He is phoning it

And no liking him or not liking him had nothing to do with his acting and the roles he chooses.

And for the record I have always liked him. But I have to be honest

Acting is a job, just in a different setting. Turning down an acting role (and the money) is turning down work. You never know when the calls might stop coming, so it’s wise to take the work while you can. It all pays the bills and funds your lifestyle.

Sure, but one would think that as an actor becomes more successful, their prior earnings allow them to become more selective.

"Starving actors" take whatever they can get. One would hope that someone like Dwayne Johnson has earned enough money that he doesn't feel the need to take any job he can get.

Anyone on top gets a slew of offers, so they don't need to take any crap shoved their way.

You're right that the calls could stop at any time, but I still think that if you've earned, say, $200 million for movie roles, you probably should save/invest enough of that so you don't have to take roles just for the money!

Just watched Looking Glass. Cage shines as a peeping Tom.

I think DeNiro does OK given his age. I've seen him in at least four big releases in the recent past. It's not like they go straight to video or anything.

The man has the same mannerisms and expressions in almost everything. They just change the film and character title.

Interesting dude, I remember enjoying the banter on the commentary track he did with Christian Slater for Windtalkers.

    I can't think of a film he's in I didn't enjoy - maybe Ghost Rider was a bit weak.

Edit: I forgot about the re-make of The Wicker Man - I wish I hadn't remembered it!
