It's a good record but if someone thinks it's the best live album of a generation, the Alice in Chains Unplugged was much better, in my opinion. That's just Unplugged performances.

I think that the Unplugged album is Nirvana's finest moment. The stripped down arrangements show what a great songwriter Kurt was, beneath all the thrashing guitars...

It's the only Nirvana I can listen to all these years later.

  9. That would describe me in a nutshell. I do not like grunge at all, not even a little bit.

Sure doesn't feel like 25 years! One of my favorite albums of all time.

Nirvana Unplugged will always scream "1995!" to me. It was everywhere!

I think this was the result of the finer cuts from this album being very radio friendly. So most of this material was the Nirvana that the masses could truly embrace.

    Great days!

Nirvana were here in Toronto at Maple Leaf Gardens about a week before "Unplugged" was taped. They did a little unplugged type of mini set here during that show towards the end and they played "Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam" much to the amazement of the crowd that couldn't really figure out what they were doing while they were waiting to hear "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and the band didn't play it after all that night.

I remember seeing this performance on MTV after Kurt died and thinking I'd really missed out on something. The Smells Like Teen Spirit video was a bit too "in your face" for me when I heard it in '91, so I sort of wrote the group off at the time. Huge mistake.

I'm not the biggest Nirvana fan, I've come to like them more over the years and learning about them.
    This album however, is wonderful.
Gosh, it was so popular at the time, you couldn't NOT hear it or about it.
I don't think albums have that big of an impact anymore.

It's still a treat to hear anything from that album on the radio. Especially "About A Girl".

Clapton's is boring imo. Nirvana and Neil Young are my fave sets.

  22. 25 years prior to that? Abbey Road was just out . . .

  23. Clapton's unplugged Layla removes the very best part of the song.

I remember the build up to this being released. Our national youth station (Triple J) was playing 'About a Girl' quite regularly in late '94. Not long after that, the same station simulcast (remember those?!?) an edited performance (with our national broadcaster (ABC). I taped it off the radio, and TV. I listened and watch both seemingly endlessly, and wore both tapes out a few months later.

I know every tune up, ad-lib, bump, noise, drum fill, and of course song off by heart. Hahaha.

Have the CD, original pressing LP and the ORG LP. I still listen to it at least five times a year.
