The winning bidder also paid $72 for a live Michael McDonald CD. Wanna bet it's a CD-R?

It is madness to pay so much for a concert recording. Whether it is a CD or CD-R doesn't matter much in my view.

Many of these buyers likely make a copy themselves and offer it up on eBay as a way to support their habit. It's like trading, except all of that PayPal $ changes hands...

Sometimes, I will email the buyer and just point out what they are getting (a burned bootleg CD) as a public service. Often they have no idea and think they're buying a valuable rarity...

(There are a lot of unscrupulous people on eBay selling obvious bootlegs/copies without noting such).

Thing is, *this* seller's in France...and who knows how copyright laws are enforced over there. If this artist's management doesn't have a VeRO form filed with Ebay, there isn't much any of us can do except warn the buyer and hope they take our advice.

We did that at A&M Corner for a seller who kept hawking some home-made CD-R compilations of Herb Alpert tracks. One of our moderators e-mailed a buyer, warned them about it, and the buyer writes back and say: "And you are...?" *sigh*

The buyer had obtained another Gene Clark CD-R from the same seller before Christmas. He paid $191 for:

"GENE CLARK with Jesse Ed DAvis
    MCCABE'S GUITAR SHOP
    April 1980
average quality oudiance recording, this is not a pressed CD"

so obviously he knows what he is buying. He always leaves the same feedback for each seller:

"It received safely in Japan. You are the kind seller who can trust it!! AAA++++++ "
