Well, at the place I went, Icon Cinema, at least they post multiple warnings preshow that they want to be alerted about anyone looking at their phones, texting or being loud and that they will toss out anyone doing so. That’s about all we can ask. It sucks being taken out of a film by a distraction. I even put my cat away if I’m watching a good movie at home. I don’t want to be distracted by anything. Luckily my only complaint was the poor projection.

Oh I did. I suppose it just took a second look from a second movie. Maybe it's something in the character development lol.

Not to mention that the Bond movies are far more physically demanding to make these days compared to when Sean was making them. (Not that they were ever a walk in the park)More spectacular stunts and fight scenes that requires the actor to do more of the stuff stunt doubles used to do. Thus, more preparation/training and pre planning. That adds weeks and months onto production.

While I agree six or seven years between films is a bit too long, three or four years minimum for these movies is almost required.

Craig broke his leg doing the intro chase in Casino Royale. Delayed production significantly. Insane how he did his own stunts a fair bit of the time though. I wish we had a new one every year or so....I know that's unreasonable though.

Those opening action scenes in each movie were among the best ever in movie history. Never saw anything like that first action sequence in Casino Royale that brought the Parkour movement to public consciousness. The opening scene in NTtD was fantastic. The best ever. Craig was frequently injured but also made an obscene amount of money.

I don't think any theater can exist in the last 10 years if they adhered to such rules. Rude people with and without phones is ubiquitous. I mentioned at my screening of NTtD there was a group of very loud, rude teens. I can't wait to get the 4K disc to view the film without distraction.

Chris Evans appeared in 7 Avengers/Captain America movies released in 8 years, in addition to a lot of other work, so it wouldn't be impossible for an actor willing to work ( and work out) to do a Bond movie every other year.

Craig simply wasn't able to, let's not forget that he was pushing 40 when he made his first one.

Then, he possibly was totally fine with just his Bond money and some projects here and there; I believe he has made less than 10 films in the last 10 years, including the epic bomb Cowboys and aliens, and moderate bombs and panned films such as "Dream house" and "Kings".

In an interview he also pointed out that it took him 3 months to get in shape for Casino Royale, and almost 12 months for No time to die.

I don't know the amount of the stunts DC performed, though. In the CR extras there's his body double constantly by his side while filming the "sinking palace" sequence.

Haven't seen the Qos, SF and SP extras in a long time but for scenes such as the roof motorbike chase in Turkey in Skyfall, there's clearly his face slapped on a stunt driver's body.

    This is from NTTD

James Bond star Daniel Craig watches on as body double gears up to perform daredevil stunt | Daily Mail Online

Personally, I believe a lot of "did his own stunts" is exaggerated Hollywood PR stuff, even Thor needs help

Where were we? Ah, long gaps between Bond films. Kevin Feige produced at least 24-25 MCU films in 13 years. There have been 10 Fast & furious films in 20 years (including the spin off), 8 Harry Potter films in 10 years.

Bond producers are satiated and in the case of Michael G. Wilson, old. It seems they settled for Bond to be a luxury "event" film and spend $250-300M every 3,4 years or more insted of making a $100M film every other year. As the box office shows, this time the gamble isn't paying off for the studio.

Hopefully I'll be able to re-watch the film on the big screen on Thursday or Friday and experience a technically defect-free projection

I haven’t been to more than a couple films in the last two years so it’s probably irrevelant to even say this but even the year before, before the pandemic, at that theatre I’m happy to say people seem to honor the request. But I don't typically see a film teens would see and your point is probably on the money for that demographic. They did run the warning at least 3 rimes during the previews so I think they’re serious about it. Or maybe they’ll be closed in a year due to the policy, as you said. I don’t understand why people pay money to go to a theatre and then get on their phones. That’s the biggest distraction to me, pulling me right out of the film.

One of the things that makes Bond harder compared to other 21C franchises is the choice to rely less on CGI for action sequences. Setting up and filming a decent action sequence takes time and planning as well as a lot of safety interventions (which can still go wrong, as the recent tragedy re: Alec Baldwin show). I still think they could get through he writing stage quicker. Danny Boyle being told to start filming without a script was just ludicrous.

To the question of where the franchise goes from here, I have always felt that you could do Bond as a period piece. Go back to the early 60s, cold war etc.
Never happen, but I think it would be cool.

The Marvel films are all shot green screen by commitee. They are pieces of crap, sometimes the actors cameo in another film and have no idea they appear in it. So you end up with promo interviews where the interviewer asks Pepper Potts about the new Spider-Man, and she says "I'm not in the new Spider-Man" and the interviewer says "but you are!", then Tony Stark says "You are darling, we shot the scene on day 42 of the last Iron Man film. Or was it day 27 of shooting Captain America?".

In no way this is comparable to how Bond films are made. It's like comparing Saville Row tayloring to Gap, or Paul Bocuse to Mc Donald. The Bond films are films. The Marvel stuff is a cross between TV shows and films, they are factory made whereas Bond films are family made.

You might have had a point 20 years ago, but nowadays the average TV show is just as good as the average film. So it's not the insult you think to to say MCU is a cross between TV shows and films. The production of multiseason shows such as GoT enabled battle scenes in the show superior to actual war movies made for the big screen. As for your thesis that 007 films are innately superior...I get that you enjoy them more and despise MCU, but you haven't explained objectively what is better about the 007 movies. MCU uses more CGI, but so what? They're more popular among millions of fans and the geopolitics of today doesn't support cold world spies like James Bond, anyway.

Just saw this today , after a friend revealed the big spoilers :(
But there were two other surprises, Felix , and Blofeld.
I thought the first hour and a half was very good but then it started to drag for me at times.
Some of the action scenes were overly long and preposterous.
Much better chemistry in this between Seydoux (Madeline) and Craig. Malek was a very good villain but too little screen time with Bond.
More scenes with Q, Moneypenny, M and Felix solidified my opinion that they did not cast the right actors for these roles.
Ana De Armas had a cool segment but it seemed pointless to have her for only that., thought we might see her later on.
The female 007 fell flat to me, not a particularly convincing actress.
The introduction of a daughter, eh , ok, the ending for Bond I'm mixed on. Great way to send off Craig but not crazy about them killing the character.
I'd assume somehow they won't though with all the money to be made on this franchise. I have felt for a while it's all been done , Craig breathed new life in to it.
Casino Royale is a great film even if not a Bond, then I rank this second and Skyfall third, Spectre fourth and really doesn't rate imo Quantum.
Daniel Craig will be missed and hope he gets back to acting in other films.

It's also the second-highest worldwide gross this year for a U.S. release. And since it took in $50 million this weekend, it's still got more money to make. It's also now the 6th highest grosser in the U.K. Skyfall and Spectre are 2 and 3, and it may get closer to them. The U.K. seems to REALLY love Craig's Bond, and never got fatigued with him as U.S. audiences have.

Grossing double its production budget is the rule of thumb that says it SHOULD end up breaking even. We won't know for sure until all the home video numbers are in, and other things are calculated. But it helps that it will continue to add more money on in theaters still. Nevertheless, this looks like a 25% haircut from Spectre's gross in the U.S. and possibly similarly worldwide. And Spectre was already a haircut off of Skyfall. So it's probably a good thing the series is heading for a reboot next.

No, he didn't agree with killing off the character in the film, and fought with the producers over story issues:

Danny Boyle Breaks Silence on Bond 25 Exit: ‘It’s Just a Great Shame’

Clearly, writers Neal Purvis, Robert Wade. Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and writer/director Cary Fukunaga had no problems with the producers and made the film they wanted to make.

Thought it was recent information with Boyle discussing what he thought of the 2021 No Time To Die finished product.

Interesting breakdown, but it's got a long way to go to break even.
