I would recommend Cardas, too. Or alternatively Audience Au24!!!

Grover does make speaker cables, and they're excellent. I've used both his regular and his new Reference ones, and I highly recommend both. I also recommend Naim NACA5 loudspeaker cable, which is very affordable. It's very stiff and hard to work with, but still worth it.

I just made an order from Grover, and I had the cables in MY hot little hands about two weeks after I sent the first message to the webmaster (I also live very close to Grover). The first time I ordered something from Grover, however, it did take two requests to the Webmaster before Grover responded. Give it another try...they're worth it.

I like Audioquest Diamondback interconnects. They are fairly neutral.

I contacted Grover last night and got a response this morning. Give it another shot. I'm tempted to replace some IC's to see what it is all about.

Indeedy. I find them more rich than that Kimbers in my system but I have great respect for Kimber the company and Ray Kimber the nice founder.

If the Grovers are leaving Kimbers in the dust then that's a high compliment.

I'm happy with my Golden Reference meanwhile. :)

Comparison of Grover ICs to other brands

I've never heard heard of these Grover cables before.

How do they compare to PS Audio Statements or Transparent Audio cables?

    Thanks.

That's hard to answer since cables are a system dependent component as well as personal preference. I own Transparent Audio IC's and Harmonic Tech. IC's. I prefer Grovers', especially when you consider the price, there is no contest, IMO. :)

Can't this question be answered by measurements? By comparing resistance, capacitance
    and inductance.

WVK, This is a bag of worms that the audio community has debated and will continue to debate. The problem is that each system is unique. If there were standards that every piece of home audio gear had to have the same input and output impedance then maybe knowing the RCL of cables would be enough but that is never going to happen. Imagine trying to get all speaker manufactures to have the same impedance.

Some years ago I saw an excellent article in Stereophile (I have tried to find it again but have had no luck) were they had several different cables or interconnects and sent the same impulse signal down each of them and showed the arrival of the signal at the other end in oscilloscope photographs. It was amazing the difference in the signal shape (especially the leading edge) for the different cables and interconnects. If anyone remembers this article please post a reference.

Why not just buy/try a pair for yourself? Remember, if you aren't happy Grover will give you a full refund on return of the cables.

Keep in mind if you're looking for punch and sizzle you would be best to hang onto what you already have because Grovers are completely neutral and have no coloration like your current cables most likely do. However, they reveal like no others I've heard so far with no coloration enhancements.

I have heard much more of the existing music (on CD or LP) with my Grovers than with any of my "punch and sizzle" wires and interconnects.

    Well worth the money!

Stewart Pinkerton on uk.rec.audio Google group has a bet on £10k that anyone can prove that cables don't sound the same. Of course for £10k he just has to say - " no, can't hear it"

have a look and a laugh at his postings, he's SO aggresive, hates vinyl and now claims all CD players sound the same, better throw my Linn Ikemi away and get a Playstation then!!

cables CERTAINLY don't sound the same, maybe not better but certainly different.

Isn't the Pinkerton claim for other people to be able to pick out different cables via a DBT? It would make no sense for him to be able to just say "no, can't hear it". That was my understanding anyway. Maybe this is a different guy than the one I've been hearing about for years. In other words, when doing a double blind test with 2 cables (say Grovers and Cardas just for kicks and grins :D), if you can tell which is which on a consistent basis, you get the money.

I find excellent balance with my Final Labs Speed 0202..they have the eichmann bullet connectors, which fit without any fuzz...

Waiting on a response from Grover

Is there an easier way of comminicating with Grover other than this wierd method of having Steve's forum administrator forward it?

I sent a message out yesterday morning according to Steve's instructions and have not heard back. I see others in this thread waiting for weeks or more for a response.

These cables may be great, but it shouldn't be a cumbersome process to acquire them.

Dave, Sorry I should have sent a PM. I also did not realize that the subject of DBT fell into the off-limits of who's ears are right or wrong. Sorry again.

    and another suggestion....

I also had the Blue Heaven exp. after 6 months or so just had to change'm. I loved the detail etc, but... The VenHaus Pulsars are awesome, at least the same level of detail etc... but none of the harshness. You can get the wire and do your own. See me letter to Chris in the review sec. of his site under "Pulsar" ic.'s. Extreme recomendation! Good luck!

No worries ALP and thanks for such a cordial reply. We are working on a possible solution to make the rules a little more prominent without being an eye-sore to everyone.
