I liked the drumming. I can't imagine Tony doing all those pre-chorus drum fills...

Should have posted this video while we were discussing WTSMG.

I think this is one of the best versions of 'Morning Glory' live.

Guigsy left the band temporarily, so Bonehead played bass. In this version, you can hear all the instruments clearly because they were only a 4-piece. It's also the most REM 'The One I Love' sounding. Noel also plays shortened guitar solos.

I saw them less than a week prior to this, when they had a very short-term fill-in bassist that bailed out within days. One of the only small disappointments about the show I saw was that "Morning Glory" was a solo acoustic number from Noel. It was good, but this is the type of song that just works better loud.

I've bashed White but he sounds good here.

But I hate what he did to "Supersonic":

Chris Sharrock reverted to the simpler Tony beat when he played it, wisely.

I haven't seen much mention of "Go Let It Out" yet. It's easily my favourite song from SOTSOG.

I remember Noel once saying that it's the closest Oasis ever got to sounding like the Beatles.

    I’d echo what has already been said, some of the best tracks were left off in an era when Gallagher didn’t really have that luxury. I’ve always wished he’d held Flashbax and Angel Child back from the Be Here Now sessions, got Liam to sing them and added Let’s All Make Believe and One Way Road as well. Something along the lines of;

    F***in’ In The Bushes
    Go Let It Out
    Who Feels Love
    Let’s All Make Believe
    Flashbax
    Gas Panic!
    One Way Road
Where Did It All Go Wrong
    Angel Child
    I Can See A Liar
    Roll It Over

But if my Auntie had ******* and all that...

  9. I love most of the production on SOTSOG and Go Let It Out is an absolute first-rate Oasis song. This album generally gets a bad rap from Oasis fans because it begins to deviate from the band's established sound that made them famous. I enjoy the album a great deal, so much so that even Little James doesn't really bother me as a throwaway track.

This is the first Oasis album where keeping off certain b-sides badly, badly hurt the album's reputation.

It appears that I have always overrated this album as it remains among my very favorites from their catalog. On the strength of Go Let It Out, Who Feels Love, and Sunday Morning Call, I probably only listen to Morning Glory more often than SOTSOG.

Critics be damned, I love this album.

Nailed it. Never got why the dislike of the record either... especially from Noel himself. Personally, I love "I can see a liar" cause it hints that Oasis is STILL a rock band, from this thread I can see I am in a distinct minority. "Sunday Morning Call" is another good song. This record grows on you with time. Maybe Noel needs to listen to it a bit more?:p

This isn't something you hear a lot, but I think "Heathen Chemistry" is their third-best album.

I would take every single b-side from Heathen Chemistry over every single track that made it on to the album.

Seriously, what were they thinking when they put A Quick Peep on instead of Thank You For The Good Times?

This album for me is Oasis trying to find their ground again after SOTSOG. The Hindu Times, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Songbird, Little by Little, and She is Love are all really great songs. The problem is that these songs are surrounded by very mediocre songs, it wasn't until DBTT until Oasis really put out another strong album. I also really like Idlers Dream, and Thank You for the good times!

This song was used to great effect in the closing credits to the movie "The Butterfly Effect". Obviously the end was the best part, cause this was a beautifully realized Noel song with a really good Liam vocal. I remember sitting in the movie theater (yeah, I saw it, but that's another thread) just amazed at the song on that big loud system!

This is seriously one of the best songs that Noel Gallagher has ever written, which for Gallagher is saying a lot. I think one of the reasons Noel didn't put this on the album is because it didn't sound quite like an Oasis song. To me this song is easily one of his greatest, I honestly think that if John Lennon had written this song people would praise it as a classic.

A few years ago I would've agreed, but this record has grown on me a lot lately- It's still not one of my favorites, but it's better that my initial assessment (which was disappointment). I love Better Man, Probably All In the Mind and Hung In A Bad Place in addition to the ones you mentioned. I will say that this was the record when the well was starting to dry a bit on Noels songwriting.

My least favourite Oasis album. I like all of the singles - The Hindu Times, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Little by Little, She is Love and Songbird. But the non singles are pretty hit and miss. I like Force of Nature and (Probably) All in the Mind, but other than that...

As with the other Oasis albums, I think the B-sides are great, and this time around I think they're pretty much better than just about all of the non singles. Just Getting Older, Idler's Dream and My Generation are simply superb. Thank You for the Good Times, Shout It Out Loud and (You've Got) The Heart of a Star are also great.

I will now be presenting my dream track listing for "Heathen Chemistry". All of the B-sides except for My Generation are included. I decided to get rid of all of the album tracks I didn't like, except for Hung in a Bad Place, just so that there could be a Gem Archer song on there somewhere.

    1. The Hindu Times
    2. Idler's Dream
    3. Hung in a Bad Place
    4. Stop Crying Your Heart Out
    5. Songbird
    6. Little by Little
    7. Thank You For the Good Times
    8. Just Getting Older
    9. (Probably) All in the Mind
    10. She is Love
    11. (You've Got) the Heart of a Star
    12. Shout It Out Loud

Shout It Out Loud would be sung by Liam to avoid there being too many Noel songs and so the last song can be a Liam one.
