Nice. I didn't know this performance survived. I think this is the first time I've ever seen Buddy not smiling! Though he does eventually -- it's like he can't help himself... Bowen had the looks for stardom but not the voice. Like that other Texas buddy, Mr. Knox is a bit stiff in his Sullivan appearance. Per Mitch Ryder, TV directors told performers not to move around so as not to go out of the camera frame. Compare this to Elvis on Dorsey Bros, Berle, etc... How did he get away with it?
