is that 'the creation'? looks a bit too fat for eddie philips. by the by i saw the mark four reunion in cheshunt around 1985, now that was a night to remember!
"Trust" by The Peppermint Trolley Company, 2:11 of baroque pop perfection from 1968. They were a group that appeared on TV shows playing groups, if you will, including Mannix and The Beverly Hillbillies (which is where I first heard them). They also did the vocals on the original version of The Brady Bunch theme. This is actually one of my favorite tunes from the entire decade.
I think it's from the period in late 1967 when Tony Ollard had replaced Eddie Phillips.. it looks like Bob Garner on lead vocals, Kim Gardner on bass and Jack Jones on drums.
I've always liked this clip too. Such a courtly way they presented themselves, like out of a fairy tale. 5 years later they were probably singing about hot babes and fast cars.
'I can show you things that you've never ever seen before'.. this is a very modern looking promo film for 1967!
Wow, what a fantastic record (and video) - never heard it before! Here's another rare video from the same band a little later: THE ALAN BOWN! TOTP VIDEO 1968 ยป
Obviously not obscure, but this reminds me of the promo film for "Walk Away Renee." Listening to all the tracks posted here underscores just how flukey it was that, out of all these worthy candidates, this is the one to become a hit. Yes, it's truly incandescent, but so are others here. In any case, a video that belongs among these. Not only do we have instruments with no cords and a singer with no microphone somehow making sounds -- but we have an audience clapping that doesn't make a sound! The whole thing is kind of psychotic....
Yeah, got to love Tony Palmer's very uncomplimentary comments about the Mike Stuart Span! Didn't mince his words!
