I have to say that this record scared me when I first heard it many years ago. You owe it to yourself to give it a listen. Everyman “It’s A Pushbutton World” 1967
First and foremost, that’s a great song that I think has really stood the test of time well! It’s not terribly obscure however, as it pops up on oldies radio stations now and then and did well on the pop chart. On the other hand, Lesley Gore performed and released it as a single in 1969 with an interesting twist! She combined “98.6” with “Lazy Day”, a lovely song made popular by Spanky & Our Gang.
This came out so late in '69 that it's considered a 1970 single. Tehnicalities aside, here's Together by The Illusion:
"Bad Day At Black Rock, Baby" by Colours. Something I heard for the first time a few weeks ago. Lovely stuff...probably already been posted on here though.
Great song. I don't have in my collection yet, but it was a CD-i music jukebox disc that I had when I had my CD-i system (it not only featured the song but also trivia about the artist.
This came out in May of 1970 so it's more 60s adjacent but someone finally posted a decent sounding version so here is Friends by Feather. So cool!
one of my joys is discovering new music from the 1960s. The period was so rich that after 40 years of searching, I still come across great "new songs. It's my turn to turn some people on to undiscovered music. I will use the method of "I Feel Fine" (Cream avatar) and post alphabetically. Also I wish to thank her for all of her posts to start with my favourite (Canadian spelling) Cream song "Badge". It was c0-written by George Harrison and on their last album "Goodbye" Listen for the gorgeous guitar solo. It's not one of their big hit singles so I consider it obscure for some people. ps. please advise how to post from Youtube showing the site. I copied the link and pasted it but it doesn't show it. thanks.
from 1967, from Australia, a group called The Allusions. They released a few singles. They sound Beatlesque, especially in the vocals.
from 1968, some members of Deep Purple, before they were in that group, put out this great single, which features a great opening and some nice bass playing.
