John Townsend, one of the '70's greatest singers, in my opinion, only managed to get one hit record under his belt, Sanford-Townsend Band's "Smoke From A Distant Fire", which is a damn shame, because he deserved more!
With their beginnings in Queensbury/Glens Falls NY one of the minor hits from McKendree Spring. Great live band in the 70's and McKendree Spring 3 their best overall album.
I always envisioned Elvis accompanying himself on ukulele as he sang this from the back of a canoe rowed by his lover just before he smashed the uke over the woman's head and tossed her in the Tyne. Such a sweet song. It was available to play to friends but never saw official release in the 70's.
Rotten to the core! Captain Kangaroo show, should almost be a poll of who remembers that. The DJ on The Underground Garage Mighty Manfred had to steal his name from the Tom Terrific cartoon.
Hookfoot - Movies "Hookfoot was a British rock band, active from 1970 to 1974. Formed by Caleb Quaye (guitars, piano and vocals) and three fellow DJM session musicians, Ian Duck (vocals, guitars and harmonica), Roger Pope (drums) and David Glover (bass), the band were also backing musicians for Elton John, appearing together on most of his early recordings for DJM."
Truth and Janey, great heavy stuff from 1975 . Any band naming themselves after Jeff Beck's album Truth (Janey was a member's last name) is OK in my book.
For some reason I really like the Susan Jacks and the Poppy Family...I bought this single on the London label in 1971, "I Was Wondering". I dig the horns on this!
