I've always liked this one and have played it for folks just to get their reaction.

"Let the Phone Ring" - Jim Mancel, from 1975.
Sadly, YouTube does not have an uploaded version of the song. However, there is a sample snippet one can listen to at the iTunes Store.
Mr. Mancel was in the band Chester, who had a nice ditty entitled "Make My Life a Little Bit Brighter".

Looks like this thread needs a kick. Here's a fun song from British pub rockers Brinsley Schwarz, led by Nick Lowe.

Feel a Little Funky - Brinsley Schwarz 1972.

Any love for Fuzzy Duck? Drummer Paul Francis plays on both versions.

    Very Beatle-esque. A Dutch band.

Here's a 1972 song by Nancy Sinatra that I think is very similar to and as good as her hit songs from the 1960s. It probably seemed out of place for the 1970s.

    A Kind of a Woman

Here's a nice one that's (almost) nothing but glorious vocals.

"March to the Eternal City" from Spartacus was the exact song I was about to post, but Stickville Jim beat me to it.

marmil It's such a long story...

Not sure if this was late 70's or early 80's but it's a great song.
