Perhaps the OP hears something we don't. I still maintain that the chorus of Manic Street Preachers 'If you tolerate this' is lifted from the middle eight of The Stranglers' Duchess ('The rodneys are queuing up...') . No one else agree with me. Mind you as it's hard to discern any sort of 'melody' in any Manic's song, I gave up arguing my case. ;-)
Linkin Park's "No More Sorrow" is blatantly similar to Megadeth's "Silent Scorn". Both of them sound like they were influenced by a traditional piece of music though, so it's possibly a coincidence and they were both inspired by something else.
I was listening to the first Black Sabbath album last week again and noticed how on "Warning" I think it was, the riff is similar to the Doors' Wild Child. To be fair the latter only came out in 69 so Sabbath could well have written it before they heard the Doors tune?
The Rolling Stones' 'One More Chance' sounds like it was pinched from AC/DC's 'You Shook Me All Night Long'.
John Mellencamp’s “Hurts So Good” riff is ridiculously similar to Neil Young & Crazy Horse’s “Don’t Cry No Tears”
It's a sample of ELO on The Changingman, so Weller didn't even play that riff on the record! I didn't know that for years until I listened to 10538 Overture and thought 'that sounds the same' and Googled it. Both are great records.
"Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes appropriates Bruckner's fifth to great success. I wonder if it's been publicly acknowledged by the band or if it is a subconcious lifting.
