    "Strange But True":
Yeah, I think "All the Critics" is analogous. So is "Annie Christian." IMO, they're both more successful. They put across a certain dark vibe with every sound right in the place the atmosphere requires. Here, there are too many sounds that clash for me, and they're very persistent. An interesting track for sure, but something's still off with Prince's ears.

    I'm with you.

Also changing my vote to 5/5.

This is fantastic and a few seconds ago I noticed a Lovesexy vibe.

Today's song is "Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do", written by [IMG] and produced by Prince.

Prince – Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do Lyrics | Genius Lyrics

"Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do" was recorded at Paisley Park in early 1999.

[IMG] : all vocals and instruments

"Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do"was performed live only once, in 2002 at Paisley Park.

Note: the In2 version includes five and a half minutes of silence before a hidden track comes on; the In2 dispenses with the silence. Otherwise ,they seem to be identical.

"Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do" is a very sweet song. Maybe a bit too lowkey but a very good song.

I can see some people not liking the lyrics but I think they work very well.

I feel like I say this too often and that it is a bit lacking in meaning but I very much enjoy the flow to this one. It feels very gentle and peaceful, I like it.

The brevity of the song also works well.

    I'll give this a 4.25/5

Is this the one that some folks claim Lenny Kravitz ripped off for his song "Again?" If so I don't really hear the connection.

Super soft Stylistics style soul yet again and this one is a huge yawn. Sounds like he can hardly be bothered.

sounds like end credit movie music.

But I actually like it, even if it's a trifle bit bland, it pleases my ear with it's melody and the lyrics are all right, if not particularly inspired. Some nice guitar in it.

Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do - good melody, cheesy lyrics, and much as I like the hidden track this would have been the better album closer. I think @Lance LaSalle nailed it when he says that it sounds like the end credits to a movie. Exactly right. Even down to the fact that you can leave the movie theatre before the credits finish, knowing that you aren't going to miss much. Still, I like it...

Pleasant pop song. I always wish it had a little guitar solo at the end.

This is indeed a sweet little song. According to Prince (Celebration 2002) the song was similar to Lenny Kravitz' Again. I can see the similarities, but I think it's more similar to the melody of Forever In My Life and Love... Thy Will Be Done. Lenny was clearly inspired by Prince as an artist, but I'm not sure if he took this song and reworked it. But who knows. Prince probably said it for a good reason and they were pretty close friends.
The lyrics are a bit easy and elementary, but it's effective nonetheless. The guitar is nice too, but not that special. I do like the whole calming mood by the melody, lyrics and guitar. This could have been on the unreleased children project Happy Tears (if it was written in time).
I really like it when I listen to it, but it's not that memorable afterwards. Anyway, it's a great little feel good song...

This is a minor 4 out of 5.

WHEREVER YOU GO, WHATEVER YOU DO: Has a kind of "I Wish U Heaven" feel without the magic of how Prince 80s records were mixed and recorded--a little too pure clean and simple and upfront, I lack the recording/mix terminology to explain why late 80s Prince recordings hit me more artfully than late 90s ones. Another quite good track that never leapt out to me as quite good buried in this strange CD that came out at a strange time. Feeling it this morning for sure so RATING: 4/5

"Wherever You Go, Whatever You Do": I was bopping along with this fairly happily until the Truck Driver's Gear Shift, which is so ham-fisted that it spotlights the calculation behind the whole thing. Which I guess is what mostly bothered me about this album when it was released, because in retrospect the songs are better than I remembered.

Yes, especially "Love…." It also teases us at the beginning with the intro to "If I Was Your Girlfriend." Which sets up expectations that can't be met.

I enjoy the old-style James Brown funk of this, I mean, think of the new-style Prince-style funk in comparison and you realize that this is a good one. Very enjoyable.
