What Do U Want Me 2 Do? I like this one a lot. It was premiered on the NPG Music Club (without the Italian part). Prince knows how to program a Linn Drum and this is a good example of his magic. It does indeed sound a bit like The Ballad of Dorothy Parker. That song is much better, though. Nice guitar solo at 2:30 and the piano and bass throughout the song are great too. The Italian answer to Prince's lyrics is a kinda nice touch and the jazz cafe sound is nice, but it doesn't contribute to the song. Let's pretend it's just a segue and not part of the actual song... This is a 4 out of 5
What Do U Want… Love the Linn (of course), instrumentation, simple chorus, breakdown, if the lyrics were a little more clever this would be a 5. 4.5/5
What Do U Want Me 2 Do?... This is a very enjoyable and breezy tune. It seems like the song just floats its way through to fruition without out much chutzpah. Maybe it's a bit too light, but I can't hate on it much. 3/5
What Do U Want Me 2 Do? Fun little light track. It has a hint of that ole Prince spark but to be fair it is also a bit uneventful the last 2 minutes or so. 3.5/5
What Do U Want Me 2 Do ? Even though it's not organic sounding this is quite enjoyable. Jazzy, light and fluffy. 3.75/5
Today's song is "The Marrying Kind", written and produced by Prince. The song sort of segues into the next song so has an abrupt ending on the video below. Prince – The Marrying Kind Lyrics | Genius Lyrics Recorded at Paisley Park in 2003. Line up: Prince: all vocals and instruments except: with Candy Dulfer & Maceo Parker: saxophones Greg Boyer: Trombone John Blackwell: drums
Odd track. Sorta rocks. Weird chords. Strange instrumentation. More of a band feel than most of Musicology. Busy as a result. Interesting effort. Not sure if it really works. There are some amusing moments there, though (you know she eat too much!). 3/5
The rock stylings on this are interesting, but they don’t really work with the chorus. Still an interesting album track that I wouldn’t skip: 3/5.

This song, with it's rocking crunch and jazzy chords and unusual melodic twists....doesn't work for me, somehow. Too much going on, the sound is bad. It's clearly adventurous, so I should like it for being that, but...no... 2.5/5
The Marrying Kind What to say about this one ? The way the druns stress the words ... at some point feels like your head is falling down the stairs. It's so overproduced, you stand there looking at this musical baroque cathedral asking: why ? 2/5
The Marrying Kind - the chorus is great, but the verses are a mess. As @footprintsinthesand says, it's way over produced and takes me back to the 1990's days in that sense. Hard to rate... 2.5/5
The Marrying Kind It's like I've never heard this before. Quite unorthodox, it's good piece of Prince madness. 3.5/5
The Marrying Kind I like this one, it rocks enough for me. Yeah, the chorus is better than the verses which are too busy. Very good album track. 3.5/5
The Marrying Kind Prince’s rock headbanger. I kinda like the song, but it’s certainly not a favorite… The song is oddly generic with just enough Prince elements to like. Barely… This is a minor 3 out of 5.
The Marrying Kind... I kinda like this strange tune. There is definitely a lot going on here, yet it's still somewhat enjoyable. It's like he tried to throw every Prince like thing at the wall to see what stuck...Purple satin laces, lay her across his piano stool etc. It almost works, at the very least it's an enjoyable album track from Prince and that's never a bad thing. 3/5
I wasn't in time for my ranking of "What Do I Want Me 2 Do?" To count but I give it a 4/5. Very nice song. Simple but effective. "The Marrying Kind..." I'm not sure about this one. I like it but I'm not sure what to rate it. 3.5/5 I guess.
The Marrying Kind On it’s own I’d give this a 2, but as half a song leading to the next and taken as a whole, combined I’ll give them a 3.5 so 3.5/5
