    Oh, good!

    ...it's the "Mirror Spock" version!

    (whatever the hell that is)

I guess that makes it all right to steal someone else's copyrighted creations....

I hate these guys; they represent a lot of evil.

    Arrrghhhhh!

I agree... Why these auctions flourish is beyond me. Well, the demand I can understand, but nobody on the supply side (other than bootleggers) seems to care!

Somebody should start arguing/pleading to Apple that even if they released Beatles material for charity purposes, to establish foundations/endowments, whatever, it's better than letting potential revenue just pass by while people are begging to hand them cash for product. I'm being serious here - these guys could make a huge economic impact on something near & dear to them, or if they prefer, they could enrich themselves enormously, and they're squandering that. Why??!

Find out what the listeners want, sell it to them, and do positive things with the cash. You're an instant hero & philanthropist!

A lot of these CDs are traded among collectors, and are basically needle drops. What bites me is people actually sell and buy them for big money on eBay and used record stores.

    But that's no new news.

I changed the title to best help us when people search for....

Is this about the Beatles UHQR Sgt. Pepper's CD? (as opposed to posting a link)

I found it - finally. Yes, it's the UHQR dupe. I really HATE the way they put all of the MFSL logos and text on these CDs. Selling the counterfiets are bad enough, but "pretending" that they are MFSL product is so deceptive to buyers who may not know all about this type of thing.

Good point - it proves to me anyway their motives are as black market profiteers rather than the collectors' friend.

Gee, some might think you're talking about Apple/EMI. :D

Seriously, I don't understand the animosity. Apple could easily rectify the "problem" by remastering the catelog. It's pretty clear that they don't think this is a big problem so why should we? Honestly, these copies are bought/sold/booted by only the most die-hard of collectors. It's a tiny drop in a very big bucket to Apple/EMI; I'm sure they're not losing much.

I also hate to tar-and-feather all bootleggers (if you consider Mirror Spock one) since, over the years, they have collectively been responsible for getting so much amazing stuff out there that only appeals to collectors and would never see the light of day if the labels had anything to do with it (which is another legal/ethical/creative issue altogether). Still, I agree that it sucks that people are profiting by selling these things, especially so blatantly on Ebay. I'm also more surprised that people are willing to pay so much for them since these sorts of recordings are so easily traded or shared.

    Gotta (respectfully) disagree, Ray...

It doesn't matter how amazing this stuff is....it's not theirs to legally sell. They didn't create it. They didn't purchase a license to market it....it's stealing.

    Period.

As far as collectors go...I'm sure the majority would agree that the legitamacy of an item and its providence are important value factors, as well...

    These people disgust me.

I think I would rather do my own needle drops anyway just to be in control the whole way. I have not heard any of these Mirror Spock discs to pass judgement on his work.

If the powers that be would release a product comparable or better than these discs then there would be no competiton and no market for the illegitimates. That's all I have to say...
