well, only because you asked What is the first record in the pile under Cliff Booth's television set in his trailer?
The whole sequence where Polanski and Tate drive to the Playboy Mansion sold the movie for me. It captured the ideal late '60s Hollywood for me, and made me realize that it's all long gone and made me both happy and sad.
Can someone tell me why Margo Robbie's (Sharon's) feet were so dirty when she was at the theater? She was wearing boots and was otherwise put together and dressed up. Seemed odd for her feet to look like those of one of the Manson clan girls.
I just over heard a couple talking about this LP in the booth next to mine at Sardi's so it was an easy guess
Quentin Tarantino suggests that in the movie Django Calvin Candie is not actually played by Leonardo DiCaprio but is portrayed by none other than Rick Dalton! Tarantino film theory suggests Leonardo DiCaprio is playing Rick Dalton in Django Unchained
I thought this tweet was pretty perceptive: I saw someone describe Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as the most Generation X movie ever made, because it is simultaneously filled with loathing for Boomers and millennials & works it out by having Gen Xers play Greatest Generation heroes slaughtering millennials playing Boomers.
Has this film inspired anyone else to want watch the Matt Helm movie(s)? It seems the best option for The Wrecking Crew is an HD stream. The DVD is not readily available in the US, but I did find it reasonably priced here.
The Matt Helm character that Dean Martin plays in "The Wrecking Crew" was the 2nd time he portrayed Helm. A dozen years ago I was at a whiskey bar in Chicago, Delilah's. For entertainment they had a TV on the ceiling playing "The Silencers". A 1966 release starring Dean Martin as Matt Helm. It had a great cult classic vibe. Check out the trailer but beware it's hot.
Yeah, I know he likes feet. We saw plenty of Uma's and Lucy Liu's (I think) in Kill Bill. And the opening shot of Death Proof is a girl's feet on the dashboard. Just didn't get why Margo/Sharon's feet were so dirty.
There were four: The Silencers (1966) Murderers' Row (1966) The Ambushers (1967) The Wrecking Crew (1969) I understand Martin would've done a fifth, but he wanted Sharon Tate back, and he declined after she was murdered.
You have a good question. Anyone working on the movie could have cleaned up her feet if they were naturally dirty. They must have added the dirt for some reason. Didn't Tarentino also show women snoring in this movie for some reason? I wonder why it was important to show that women snore in their sleep.
Program your BluRay/DVD to French voice dubbing, then skip to scene 3 as our guys come out of the restaurant after meeting Mr Schwarzzz, It's hilarious!!!
